Default Maintaining users in a web app

Is there any way of maintaining users in a web app or is this only available on desktop apps? I can create users using the already provided documentation in the online help. I don't want to waste a whole lot of time searching only to find out that this cant' be done. Can anyone confirm this? Cheers.

Yes, there is ample help in the Help Guide or the wiki on maintaining users online. Search for "Adding Users with a Web Component".

Thanks Steve, I see that and have already used that but what about maintaining existing users. The only examples I can find are only available for Desktop Applications.

You either have to build it yourself or buy Steve Wood's web template for v9. It is doable, but it's not super-easy.

    Mike,
Is your question to maintain your users in: security, in a dbf you created or both?

Good question Eric now that I think about it. I was thinking of maintaining them in security such as can be done on desktop. I thought this would be useful for administrators in a web-only app where the server was not in-house such as on a VPS. Otherwise, I believe that we would have to have a desktop front-end to the app as well and run the server in-house. That may not be feasible for all apps.

AlphaSports gives the ability to maintain the customer base, but what about restricted users for such an app?

Can a dbf be derived from security of all users and then posted back to security after maintaining?

I envision creating web apps based on a US VPS as they are considerably cheaper that what is available in New Zealand.

Basically. But you gotta build it yourself.
