Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Gaby,

In the update settings: Row edit style: row on demand; New record edit style: show on demand.

      Hello Peter:
Thanks a lot. I would have never thought... all this time I have tried and retried all kinds of things in the CSS, Shading & Dividers, inline style, cell inline style, etc... , etc... Many thanks.

Re: Creating an invoice in V10

        HI,

I try to create new invoice from form grid and using session variable to pass the last identity of SQL table to item grid inserted by DIV method introduced here by Peter. Item grid is using session variable as an argument to filter out data after row submit, to see all rows (initially there is none, but after I add one row, there should be one row after refresh to add second row). For some reason the session variable is not working as an argument filter.... I know that session variable is there since I use it as default OBJNR for new items and it's populated nicely. What I'm missing here? what's the best way to achieve this?

Hi Now another issue came up, how to click a button on pageload automatically?. I was assuming that I could use some system event same way that is used here in onDetailviewrender, but if I put this code to OnGridRender or to onObjectInitialize then it does not work.

And then how to submit both buttons (in DIV and grid submit) at once?

Re: Creating an invoice in V10

On the Client-Side event onDetailViewVendor issue the following code:

              ele = $('{Grid.ComponentName}.D.V.R1._UNBOUND_BUTTON_1');
              ele.click()

Ooops .. I found it. And I understand what you are doing here Peter .. and actually had something similar that before I started. What I am trying to do is get the sum of the line items into a summary field in the invoice header table. Does that make sense? Just getting started with the sql / web apps stuff.

                    Betty,

If you look at the example invoice child grid (or your own grid) note the OnSummarySectionRender event. You will see a sample e.summaryValues.QUANTITY.Total, where QUANTITY would be a field name.

Re: Creating an invoice in V10

Is anyone using this technique successfully?

I've successfully inserted the child grid in the parent detail view, but it's lacking some functionality.

                        Namely:
Can the child records be saved along with the parent, rather than individually? Even for new parent records?
Can I add new rows to the child grid without first submitting existing new rows?

                        or:
Is there a better approach to entering/editing parent/child records, as in an invoice?

                        Examples would be great.
                        Thanks,

Not sure what your dead line is on your project but creating an invoice with the new Dialog component in V11 is a snap. Sign up for the Beta to take a look.

I saw the demo video and thought it looked great. I can probably wait, but was wondering how folks are doing it in V10.

I was able to do it in version 10 with a lot of work and trial and error......it was not fun. To be honest it still has its quirks.....

Looks like I'm in the same boat as the rest. I'm trying to convert to SQL tables and trying to figure out an invoice like everyone else.
I'm new to Alpha 5 V10 and have watched a ton of videos. Some pretty good, but still not getting all the information I need.
Can I get included? Would sure save me hours. Jim
