Default Many thanks to Tom Cone.

Please Note. Will it happen today or tomorrow ....?

Tom Cone will break the border of 20,000 posts. A special moment.

We, as forum users, we want to thank you for your willingness, to guide us, correct us, provide supplement, for teaching insight, to stimulate our thinking and encourage us with our development with great attentiveness to quality.

It is not only the number of posts but just also the content that are written in all the past years with great enthousiasm and with jokes in a never ending day and night service.

We wish that you will be for years our grand old man.

    Many thanks, Tom, take care.

    Congratulations!

    Ton

Please add your comments, anecdotes, photos, cartoons and good wishes

Indeed an accomplishment that very few will ever meet.

The question that still remains is---"Tom, when and where is the party going to be!!?"

Ton, thanks for starting this thread.

I would like to echo Ton's sentiments. (Except Ton, you are on your own with that 'grand old man' comment.) :)

When I first started using Alpha six years ago and reading the forum it did not take long to figure out that if there was a post by Tom Cone Jr one would do well to both read it and head the advice there in.

Thanks for all the time you have put into helping us all.

Hey, guys thanks for the kind words. Generous, indeed. I've enjoyed my time spent on the message board. Trying to help other people has proven to be a good way of keeping current myself. I also need to thank those who've gone before. I stand on their shoulders, and have received help from many many people. So, let's all pitch in together to help others discover the many ways Alpha Five can help them solve their data management problems. Thanks again,

Recently retired from Dawson and moved to Toronto for family and other reasons. Still programming but obviously not for the college. It's been a big change and moving is no picnic but things are working out well. Still sorting out the mix of academic and programming activities.

Thanks for all of the help you have given me, and I'm sure most other non alphaholics out there.

I tried to type something witty and profound, but after all of the smoke disappeared (my brain trying to think of something), all I can really say is thanks for all of the help you have given me by posting the 20,000 ++ , even though I never did ask the questions.

Here's to another 20000 (I really need the help).

I have just noticed these accolades for Mr. T.C..

I too am the recipient of much asisstance and advice from this scholarly gentleman. I wish I had noticed this first, so that I might be at the top of this list instead of the bottom. Be that as it may, I must add my late comment and sincerest appreciation. If we could ever calculate the time spent in addressing so many questions. and we took a most modest reply time of only one minute, that would still be 20,000 minutes helping others. It could easily be many multiples of this.
Thank you Tom, and please don't retire!!! Us beginners still need you.

    Kindest regards, John Linley

What is amazing is that Tom has been doing this for so many years. I remember his help when I was more of a rookie (still am, after about 20 years or whenever A4v2 came out) Tom has been an integral part of this message board and we all appreciate his measured and well thought out responses. Congrats to Tom on 20K. I hope for the sake of Alpha Software that he has many years left as I'm sure he is a key reason that many are using Alpha software.

Tom certainly is one of the real gems of the Alpha community. I recall when I first started watching this message board, and Tom shared his wisdom on almost every thread. I don't get back to the board much any more, but it's no surprise to see he's still so generous with his time.

Thanks Ton, for starting the thread. It's great to see so many of those I met at the Burlington area conferences on this thread.

I would also like to add my thanks and admiration for the help Tom has given myself and others.

I could never have completed some projects without the help of Tom and others like him (thanks also Stan Matthews).

The thing that sets people like Tom apart is the way that they never make noobs like me feel that we have asked a stupid question (even when we have), and courteously ask for clarification when we don't explain ourselves correctly in the original post.

As we say in my part of the world "Cheers Tom, you are a diamond geezer!" :)
If computers are so clever how come someone as dumb as me has to tell them what to do?
