Thanks to Chad Brown for presenting the first Web App Showcase on 6/16. He did a very nice job and his application was very interesting.
The next Showcase is a non-profit event manager application under development for a SaaS (Software as a Service) application and will be presented by Pat Bremkamp. Interesting features of this presentation are:
Use of a single MySQL backend database and a single Alpha application for multiple clients. The application is being built using V10 of Alpha, V5.1 (64 bit ) of MySQL and is hosted on a �hyper-v� server at ZebraHost.
Use of a different instance of the WAS for each customer (initially, 4 instances for 4 customers, but easily expanded up to the capacity of the server). Each instance of the WAS uses IP binding and a ServerSetting in the config file to filter and isolate the data for each customer.
Use of a third party on-line html editor to allow the customers do-it-yourself web pages. Customers can create their own pages and put them on the navigation menu themselves.
Use of content management concepts so a single page with changeable content can appear to be multiple pages with both text and grids.
Use of a setup file to set different images in the header and different CSS styles for each customer.
