Question Copy selected child records from one form to another form

How do we copy the child record from one form to another?
    I have a set of 1:many
I like to copy the selected child record from template form to the recipe form, as given in the attach file.
Have been searching the board, did not found any similar problem.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Regards,

I can't help but wonder why? You are using the same set for both forms, therefore you already have the ingredients linked to the parent - which shows to be the case in the Recipes form. So I am guessing that you want to copy some ingredients from one Recipe into a new Recipe, perhaps to create a modified version? So that eg. Spaghetti Sauce I is the basis for Spaghetti Sauce II which then has additional or different quantities? I'm not a great cook but I can follow a recipe!

    Hi Robin,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I am sorry if my question was not that clear.
Here i attach another file, now with the 3rd form - a transaction form for adding new record. I want to get or copy selected child records from the template into this transaction form.

My intention is to get selected or all child records from template form copy to the new transaction form.

I created a dummy table with same fields and types (without the iD field). Then use copy operation to copy the selected child records to the dummy table follow by append operation to the child table.

It works with table level but the IDs are not copied, thus the set has blank ids with the appropriate records in the browse.

I try to update the dummy with the new record IDs of parent, but the update do not have expression builder for the value, it only allow a constant value not variable.

Anyone know how to solve this or any threads that may be helpful?

    Thanks
    Regards,

Sounds like you need help understanding how to pass values from one form to another. There's an example with explanations in the Code Archive. I think it's called something like "Pass Values Between Forms". If you have trouble finding it let us know.

    Try this on for size:
