Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Alpha Five v10 Web Applications - The Tutorial

Volumes other than 1, do they exist?

Re: Alpha Five v10 Web Applications - The Tutorial

If this is Martin Heller's tutorial, then volumn 1 is all there is for now--- In other message board posts he has stated that it may be a while (no actual time line mentioned) due to time constraints.

Re: Alpha Five v10 Web Applications - The Tutorial

I am adding my comments to this thread because I purchased the first volume when it was offered in April and am irritated that 3 months later I still cannot obtain the remainder of it. The first volume was good and left me anxiously awaiting the second and third volumes since the parts that I really need are in the 2nd and 3rd parts. After waiting what seems like a reasonable time for it to be available I sent an email to my sales rep asking if he knew when the next volume might be available. It went unanswered so I tried the same thing sending it to the marketing address instead. It went unanswered as well. I then replied to an email I had received from Richard and he did answer it but could offer no more information than it was being "worked on" but he had no time frame. I waited another month and asked him again if anyone had any idea when it might be available or if Dr Heller could answer the question. I was back to not getting a response. After reading a couple posts in the forum asking about it and then coming across this I am left wishing I had never bought it in the first place or had at least waited until all three parts were available at once.

When it was offered I thought it would be a good place to get a complete tutorial in one place given the problems with Alpha's disorganized documentation. What I ended up with was another form of incomplete material with no clue as to when I might be able to proceed with it. Hearing that it "may be some time" just frustrates me further. It's my opinion that it should not have been offered in the first place until it was complete and all three parts could be obtained or a clear release schedule was established and could be kept.

If I thought I'd get a response I would request a refund until all 3 parts were ready but I know I wouldn't get a response. They are pretty quick to respond when I want to buy something though .

      There I feel better.
