Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Can Runtime Plus Create an Email Template

I cannot find anywhere where there are instructions for a person using Runtime Plus to create an Email template or even a report. Wiki is broken in that no matter what page is clicked, only the 1st page is shown. Look up Runtime Plus and see what you get. I got 4 pages but could only view the 1st page.

The online Help is not much better in that I cannot fined anything about how a person using Runtime Plus can create a report.

Furthermore, none of the menu items offer report or email template creation. Tools->Email will allow for creating an Email but, ouch, try attaching a file and see where it takes you. Muy malo, que lastima!! At least for me.

    So, my questions are:

    1. How does a user using RT+, create and save a report?
    2. Is RT+ capable of creating an email template?
    3. Where is this information found, either in Wiki or Online Help?

    Thanks,

    kenn

P.S. I also searched the Message Board and Googled as well, nada!

    kenn,
    1. How does a user using RT+, create and save a report?
This was included with runtime+ as documentation....I saved it and will find it if you cannot.

Any template can be created really for anything on the runtime....just have to give the users fields to fill in that then is placed appropriately in the functions/scripts that will use them. Show us what you want the runtime users to be able to do and am certain ideas will be forthcoming! :) If just for attaching a file, then show us how you are currently creating the email and such.

Here is the Runtime/Runtime+ documentation--an old file but do not think it has ever been updated.

        Hi Mike,

Thank you for the link. I went to the Alpha Software web site hoping to find an updated version. The Runtime+ documentation is no where to be found. I finally clicked on the Site Map link and found an "Old" site map. I say "Old" because the latest version is version 8. The epitome of frustration, to say the least.

At least I have some Runtime+ with which to work but it's only available in the PDF version. If there are other versions, it must be a closely guarded secret.

Wiki is still broken in that when a search turns up X pages, only page 1 is viewable. I have to sign in each time as well as enter my password even though 'Remember me' is checked.

        Again, I appreciate your help.

          Hi Ken,

Have a look in this folder on your machine for the Compiled HTML Help file.

          C:\Program Files\a5V10 Runtime\Addins_Installed\support.

Assuming that you have installed the V10 Runtime in the same place as me.

            Hi Keith,

Yes, that is where I installed it but there is no Addins_Installed folder, only a AmyuniV4 folder.

                Hi Keith,

Close but no cigar. Got an message that said, Navigation to the web page canceled". Bah humbug.

I uninstalled RT+ from the Win7 Control Panel the reinstalled it. I opened RT+ and checked; I do have RT+ so I checked the folder and now it contains the following folders: A5CSS, AmyumiV4, DockPanels, FunctionHelp, JavaScript, SQLDatabases, Stylesheet Bitmaps, Themes and UIContext. There is no Addins_Installed folder. Next I searched the entire C drive for Addins_Installed\Support and came up with a big fat goose egg.

Is it possible to email the folder to me and then I coulds copy it to the RT+ folder?

                Thanks,

Re: Can Runtime Plus Create an Email Template

Ken, as is often the case, I don't get it: Why is the Netmailer help file supposed to help with Runtime +? I have Runtime + v9 and v10 and the pdf file Mike gave you is all there ever was, and though it may be a little obtuse, I believe it is all you need. Well, the v10 file is a little different but not much. I'll attach that below.

                    Hi Ken,

It seems that I have this folder because I installed NetMailer, Runtime version. I realise now that I sent you the wrong help file which was for the Netmailer addin.

The PDF file you have been sent explains what you need to do. It is a bit tricky to get your head around what has to be set up for the end user to create their own reports but with a bit of practice you will soon get the hang of it.

See pages 12-17 for instructions on how to allow end users to create their own reports.

                      Ray,

Thanks for the link. It's what the doctor ordered. Looks like Keith solved the 'missing' folder saga.

Thanks for the explaining the whereabouts of the 'missing' folder.
