Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Extract the two files contained in the attached ZIP file and double click on "link2.html". It should play a short video of what I am hoping to accomplish.

          Thank you.

            Charles,
While I'm waiting for the link to download...
            Here are a couple choices:
            1. Switch the Alpha HTML editor to "source" and type the link in by hand, as in <a href=" "

            2. Use a 3rd party editor. Sevaral of us are using ckeditor (www.ckeditor.com) See the pic attached to see the link icon. There are a few other good items also...this pic does not show them all.

              Pat,

I advised that as a better option, as many of us are using that
But I think Chris prefer htmlEditor built with A5.

Some ware in between there is the answer, take care

Pat Bremkamp did a couple tutorials on CKEditor. I think they're in the Members Only section of the IADN Discussion forum.

Re: Will Pay $$ For Answer!!!!

FYI - the notes on the IADN Forum will probably not get the editor running on your system. We've taken it past that point and had to make some additional tweaks to make it work, but it works nice after that. Let me check with Pat, maybe we can zip up a grid with the editor in place as a drop in component. It is vastly superior to the Alpha editor.

Also, if you did visit the IADN forum or website this weekend (specifically late Friday through mid Saturday Pacific time, you should run a virus check. I had a little worm problem on both locations. It would be obvious, the IADN forum screen had ten lines of text with the names of PHP files at the top. That's the reason it was shut down for part of today. I killed all of my sites the moment I spotted something.

For posterity's sake I thought I should post the resolution to this problem. In addition to posting this thread I had opened a support incident with Alpha 5. They finally narrowed down the missing "HTML MEMO" issue to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP2. I upgraded my server to MS SQL 2005 SP3 and BOOM--HTML MEMO Hyperlink Icon appeared!

Thanks to everyone who helped with this--I learned a lot more than just how to solve this issue!
