Default Upgrade or not upgrade ... tha's the question

    Hi,

    I need a hint on a problem I'm encountering:

I recently completed an inventory management software for a client with about 7000 items. Now they want a website based on the current database with e-commerce.

My question is that: it is better to create a website administration area with all the the features of the software above mentioned created, or would be sufficient to create a website and updated regularly by the local only the database? and if the second solution is better is sufficent to create a script that update any hour the tables and set ?

    Thak you for your suggestions

    Good question.

I had a customer with a used book store who also wanted to sell on-line. I argued with him that he needed real-time communication between the database in his bookstore and the one on-line in case he sold the same book on-line that he just sold in the store. He didn't think it was worth worrying about.

So, I suggest you ask the customer to access the risk of double selling the same item. If there is lots of stock (or he doesn't care), maybe update periodically. If the 7000 items are one-off, then continuously.

    Hi Pat,

So you think the best thing is to recreate the entire part in the administration that he currently uses for work:
loading /unloading inventory, print and create invoices, orders etc?
