Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

New Build 3209_3580 : ALL grids same fatal error

    Installed this new build. Issues:

    1. In live preview

    - No grid opens
    - Every grid same error box "Generated xbasic has errors: Extra caracters at end of expression"
    - Then the option is given to see the xbasic code, an example is attached

    2. In working preview.
Most grids seem to work without problems. But not the grid for wich i attached the exbasic code. That gives when opening an error:

Error:Script:a5res://a5wobject/__hidden__VarTemp7589945_GridSettings line:51 Property not found tmpl.componentName subelement not found.

I already tried standard cures (no luck at all):
    - making grid dirty
    - bulk operation / update compiled files for ajax grids

Hope i get in the next hours a solution, else i have to reinstall previous build and backup :-( Everything worked great with it and i was just testing new build

Did you download and install all 3??

I know when i had this subelement problem it was because of this.

    Worth a shot i suppose.

    Good Luck.

        I have the same problem!!!!

when you open a grid or edit something and you try to save it you get this fetal error..

This is the actual message I get (if this helps!)

"Generated Xabasic has errors: Extra characters at end of expression."

I do open the generated Xbasic file but cannot see what is wrong...

Could you check your version number.

After i updated the first time it was version 3571.

And then i did another update, the (Alpha five update), restarted my server and it turned into version 3580.

And it 'seems' to be working at the moment.

          Hope this helps.

Ger, the message board is not monitored closely. Suggest you submit a formal bug report using the Help menu in Alpha Five.

I had that issue on a couple of grids. I was able to recompile (save) and re-publish and the error went away.

Never mind. I answered my own question by going and checking Quick Search for a grid, and started getting errors... so will do the patch.

May be I didn't got the message as I should BUT..

                          - Do we have to patch the Application Server - running on Server? (not on the developing machine...)

                          - and if yes which patch do we have to use?

When trying to unzip to windows program file, an error message comes ahead

                            - Access is denied

I am using win 7 & I am the administrator of the computer...

so why the patches to not go through.

                            - Could we get a normal update download earlier, please!!!

You are trying to apply the patch with A5 open. If you think it is closed, check the task manager and make sure it is not running
