Alpha five version 10.5
Developer Edition, Build 3221 System Addins: Build 3583.
Windows 7
Desktop

I was reading http://wiki.alphasoftware.com/Alpha+Five+File+Types
and noticed that the files starting with $$ are temporary and Alpha Five should delete them when exiting. I just started to work on a database. In my computer they persists and the size of the database went up considerably, say 2.55GB, however i have manually deleted them and the database size came to size that I expected 23.8 MB. Should I turn on something in the setup of Alpha Five to do this automatically.

From control panel, top menu, choose view then settings and then queries - make sure that the box is check - if not check the box that states

Delete all query list (MPX) when exiting Alpha Five

But it should already be checked.

Just for your information, Alpha normally will delete the old query files when exiting (in most cases) There are times for various unknown reason (some known) that Alpha fails to delete the old MPX (query) files - they can be deleted.
