Default Migrating to new Windows 7 machine

I am in the process of migrating from a laptop running XP to a new laptop running Windows 7. When I open A5V5 on the new machine, I am missing the top row of menu items: file, edit,..., help

I haven't even tried v5 under Win7! Have you tried running A5 as administrator. That solves most of my problems.

I tried, and got several messages of drivers unable to be loaded. Otherwise no change in the missing menus. I can bring up the invisible submenus by hotkey (e.g. Alt-h brings up the help sub-menu. But it's like shooting in the dark.

I wanted to put the transmission from my 1949 truck into my 2003 Suburban, but my mechanic laughed at me.

See if I ever use him again..... ;)

Selwyn might take offense at comparing his baby to a 1949 truck transmission. :)

Possibly, or he might be proud that a mature version of Alpha is still working, performing for, and loved by its owner.

MS on the other hand...... too many changes???

Have you tried any of the compatibility modes in Win 7?

on a side note, I had a clunk in the suburban and when I talked to the zone manager I told her that I knew they could make a vehicle without a clunk, cuz I have a 49 that still doesn't clunk when I drive it...

I'm trying the same thing...my old XP finally gave up the ghost, and I've loaded my Alfa 5 v5 onto the new Win 7 machine. I get an error at the outset that "Failed to update the system registry. Please try using REGEDIT", then I get a message that it can't find printers (not a problem those printers don't exist anymore), and then it goes into the program. Everything there seems to work fine.

Can anyone give me any guidance? Can I ignore the messages, and keep entering my data (with backups!!)? We only use it for one customer notification program, and I just haven't had time to worry about upgrading to a newer program.

I concluded I had to upgrade, so I took advantage of one of Alpha's discount offers to upgrade to version 10.5. I'm happy with it.
