Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

iPad & iPhone - now use Flash etc.

Great news for use of third party apps in Alpha, I've stayed away from them for this very reason.
I think this this is very exciting news for us. Full details here.

Thanks for the information Pete, good news indeed.

On another note, someone else asked and I'm not sure you saw their question... what is the Alpha Master Class?

Apple did not announce support for the Flash player.

They are going to allow Native apps developed with the Flash authoring tool to be submitted through the App store.

The quote below is from the WSJ article referenced in the link below.

Perhaps investors are waking up to the fact that Apple’s revised policy still won’t allow iPhone and iPad users to access Flash-based content on the Web.

There is a reason they dont support flash content.
        Just google it.

They want to have strict control over their content and do not want 3rd party developers involved because they feel its detrimental to progress - if the 3rd party isnt releasing bug fixes, or isn't improving their software - then apple gets stuck.

They have their own video format and dont need flash video.
If websites want to provide flash video they can easily make changes to provide both flash video and mp4 (most sites already do this).

The only thing flash would be good for on the iphone is games - but the app store already has tons of games so theres no need.

No need to allow flash content - Ive been perfectly fine on my ipod touch for 4yrs without flash content

        just thought id chime in

Come on do you really believe Steve Jobs BS
the only reason apple does not want Flash in their mobile diveces is $$$$$$$$$$$
If they let Flash apps in the browser they would lose the app monopoly they now have with the app store (this is not a conspiracy theory is a fact).

          BTW
there is a special browser called cloud browse that can run Flash on the iphone

            Sure.
Wouldnt you want a monopoly like that?
They dont have a monopoly on phones - there are many phone choices.

Why should they be punished for being succesful?
Dont you want your business to grow? Dont you want to make $$?
Would you let a 3rd party company waltz right in to directly compete with you?

            I wouldnt.

Is this the reason why so many people "hate" Microsoft. I don't care for Apple anything because its overpriced and I like my right click. lol Is there an app for that?

Didn't Micro$oft get in all kinds of trouble for preventing 3rd party programs from messing with windows and explorer ?

Sure Im not bothered by the fact they want more $$$ the thing that bothers me is the way they try to hide this fact by attacking other platforms like flash and java, stating that they are poor products, adobe cant control the quality of the software their clients make just as alpha cant control the quality of the software we make. I just would like apple being more honest that's all (this coming from a happy Iphone user ut I sure would like flash on it).

by providing them with your platform, software, etc?

apple CAN control the quality of the third party apps - they own the app store and can reject any application they feel is garbage - they are getting stricter on their app acceptance as well - i think it was in that article.

                      but ive read about it
