Smile A5V10 web application hosted on a VPS running against a MS SQL Server Database

    Hi

I am currently building a web application with A5V10.
The backend will be a Ms SQL Server database.
I will be using an Alpha Five hosting provider offering a VPS.
As Alpha Five Application Server will be running on this VPS, could you kindly advice if the Ms SQL Server Database Engine would also need to be loaded on the same VPS ?

What is the best solution for this type of a scenario ?

    Thanks,

    Chris

I'd say the main deciding factor is the demands and needs of your application.

I have, on one VPS, both the A5 Server and MySQL running, but this is for a small application.

On another application, I'm starting out with this identical configuration. But, I expect that once we're in production, we'll need all the horsepower we can get, in which case we're already planning for the Web App Server to be on one box and MySQL on another.

Hi guys. This is a separate but related question, so I thought I'd piggyback off of this thread. Hope you don't mind.

Can Alpha use the 64-bit version of MS SQL Server Express 2008 R2?

    Thank you,
    Lou

Alpha communicates over TCP/IP to the SQL server so it does not matter what flavor your SQL server is.
