Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Report header and group header, but not both?

I have read until I am blue in the face and haven't found a solution. Must be me 'cause it must be me.

I need a report header for a corporate logo, address and such, on page 1. Next is Group header. Groups are started as new pages and I need group header for column header information. But having both are seemingly not allowed to happen on page one, as only the Report header will show and the group header is suppressed on page one. Only one shows. Why, what do I do and damn these reports are just HARD!! How do I get both a report header with logo etc for page one and Group Hearder to show on page one?

Yes - I agree with you this is a problem. I would say it needs a fix as I can't get it do the logical as you state. I also note that with a page header turned on the start group on a new page turned on, the groups do not start on a new page.

Don't have time to test seeing as I am on holidays (in Brandon Manitoba at the moment) but try a page header for the report rather than the report header.

Tim is right (of course! :) ) about using the page header....think of the Report Header as a cover page because that is really all it is....I RARELY use a report header in any report.

I interpretted this as needing a report header at the start and a header for the group. Each group starts on it own page. If the group goes over a page then there is no need for any header. If you use page header you get a header on every page. I did not think that is what was being asked for.

            Mark, Tim, Mike,
Thanks for replying. I am with you Mike, and that is what kept me, I guess, from getting to the solution, but in this case it seems to be needed.

            Tim,
Be on vacation dude and report your world travels, my friend! But thanks because you did bump me to get to the solution...

To achieve what I needed here is the combination that seems to work.

It takes having both a Report Header and a Page Header for Report present. The Report Header must be empty. The Report Header for Report has to contain the the logo and first page info AND also contain the elements of the Page Header for Group.

Not an intuitive combination for sure, but I am thankful to finally get there.

I attacted a screen shot of this if it helps. Thanks for the help.
