popup calendar

i am trying to have a calendar popup on entry in a field.
at that point after calendar popsup i would like to select a date then have it entered into a form or browse.
i am able to all i want EXCEPT i can not enter the date i select.
could someone tell me what i am doing wrong?
here is the code which i got from the message board:

value=ui_get_date_calendar("","", "OrangeCrush")

The code just opens a calendar pop up and allows you enter a date which in then stored as a character in the variable "value".
You then have to take that variable and convert it to a date type and enter it into your form

Say the date field in the form that has the pop up is called Inv_date . You would put the following code in the fields OnArrive event

dim vdate as c
vdate=ui_get_date_calendar("Select","","OrangeCrush")
parentform:inv_date.value=ctod(vdate)
parentform.refresh_fields()

I changed the variable to Vdate so there is no confusion with a word "value" this is used in a5 for other purposes.

Now when you arrive in the Inv_Date field, the calendar will popup and you then select a date by clicking on the date and that date will then be written to the Inv_date field.

Thank you for the comeback and assistance.
I copied your code and pasted it into my form with 2 exceptions
1--your line 3 I put "." to replace ":" after parentform
2--I changed "inv_date" to "due_date"
However the date selected by the clicking action still does not transfer to form

dim vdate as c

parentform.due_date.value=ctod(vdate)
parentform.refresh_fields()

First the change you made is not valid

the code is Parentform:due_date.value=ctod(vdate)

The colon is required for a field name on the form.

Is the popup calendar code on an OnArrive event for the due_date or did you put the code that I posted on a button?

A screen shot of your form would help a little.
