Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

All I done was to have the printouts shown in temp1.pdf was to:-

    1. Right click on your operation all records.
    2. Move the curser down to show Xbasic.
    3. Left click this will open up the xbasic code that runs when you run your operation.
    4. Press copy to clipboard making sure you are in the box with confirmation dialogs.
    5. Left click the mouse on the code tab
    6. Left click on New
    7. Move the curser down to Script using xbasic editor and then Left click which will open up the xbasic code editor.
    8. You will see 2 tabs 1. Untitled_1 and another tab with interactive on it.
    9. Using the Untitled_1 tab in the white box press ctrl+v or use paste by right clicking and using the paste from the menu that comes up.

You then have the Alpha5 version of xbasic commands you have created in your operation.

Save the code by giving it a name of your choice and you have just written your first xbasic program.
Show the code to your friends and they think you are very clever.

    It is that easy.

Try it and let us know how you get on.
I will try it. I've printed your instructions, and I'll let you know.

I have change Tim's filter slighly and used verify between 10-O01 and 10-O04 and trial date year 2010

The 2 methods do act different.
YES!!!!! Thank you for seeing what's been driving me crazy, and what I've had so much trouble explaining to all of you. At least now I know I'm not losing my mind.

I did this for the Operation ALL RECORDS, and it is as you say. However, when I try it on the Operation October 2010 - set, I still get the same funny stuff. In this Operation Condition 1 is that Trial_Date be in the year 2010, Condition 2 is that verify be between 10-O00 and 10-O99. What is the alternative method of accomplishing this that Mike was referring to? I'm enough of a former programmer that I can copy the CODE info and make minor changes.

This usually happens when you try to open the database after unzipping with the box 'Show Files' checked and then douple click on the red A5 icon. You need to open the db by opening A5 first.

What I am seeing is that scrolling through the default browse showing the filtered table using the saved query scrolls appropriately. But, when scrolling throught the records in a default browse after running the parent_child operation causes the records/data to change-jump around as the cursor moves down the rows. What's up with this?? I'm right now using v9, but I will repeat in v10 when I get home.
              Mike,
Did you figure out what's going on? I just downloaded and installed the Nov 23 Alpha5 update, hoping that would take care of the problem...but it didn't.

It repeated with v10, but I haven't the foggiest why it behaving in this fashion. I believe a suggestion has already been made to use a filtering method, like Tim's or mine, other than operation method which is causing the peculiar behavior.
