Default Prevent user from entering data in an updateable field

Frequently you need a field that is updateable, because you need to store it, and at the same time is blocked for direct user input, because it comes from a calculation or from a lookup.

In the forums there are suggestions on how to deal with this problem, but they are not straightforward.

I suggest adding a propery to the field to achieve this with a mouse clic.

So why doesn't field property->Setup->disable work?

There is no "Disable" property for grid fields (as far as I know)...

Where do you enter this property?

    Roger,

    Just a FYI...

Mike gave you an answer and it is correct....for the desktop. If you are on the webside, then Mike just guessed wrong is all. ( grids can be on the desktop as well).

Best to always mention what the context is....desktop or webside, version and build of Alpha, and any other pertinent information when posing a question or even giving a solution. That way, much less guessing, fixes/solutions can be given for a specific version as warranted, and it will usually expedite matters overall.

    Solved !!!!

Set Client Side Properties - Enable Expression to false and the field will be locked for user input, and still updateable with javascript actions.
