Default Noob help - job profitability by customer

How can I make a Profitability by Customer Detail Report?

    With columns for:

    £ Margin
    % Margin

...with customer invoices and purchase invoices separated, with totals at the end of each section?

We had this in old MS Accounting 2008 and need to create it in QB Pro 2010, so that we can instantly compare what we have invoiced our client for Job X compared to what we have spent on the job.

    Thanks for any help.

P.S. I've downloaded the trial of QRB to see if it can get me anywhere, or is this just possible normally in QuickBooks itself?

    Any help would be amazing.

    Hi Bert,

This is going to require a set with all the various tables linked together very carefully, to enable you to get the data out in a meaningful way. Yes this can be done in Alpha, not too sure of the structure of QB as to whether it can be done or not.

I replied to your email also.

Yes this can be done in QRB.

Usually summarizing the data is a good place to start, but you can also make linkages using the trans tables like invoicetrans to link to other tables.

I've also seen users that have based a report on the detail transaction report and filtered to the data they need.... (summarizing of course..)
