Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Grid Fatal error running a5_ajax_grid(): Property not found

    Hi,

I am getting this error when launching grids from within my tabbed ui:

Fatal error running a5_ajax_grid(): Property not found grid.ExportDataButton subelement not found.

I updated both my app server and my alpha development software to the latest.

I don't know where to look to find a reference to what the error is referring to. How do we resolve these types of fatal errors?

    Thanks,

    Julie

This must be something common with "components" because I also have a problem when placing a component in a basic a5w page.

A few things - restart the server.. also do you have feature packs - if so make certain they are registered on alpha in use.

Peter, I am running under windows7, I bought the feature packs for grids and action buttons. All's fine in W7, built a run time and tried it on an xp machine, get this same error described above... Happens Only when I try to call a desktop grid from a desktop grid button. You mentioned registration, the features are registered I am assuming that you can build a run time and run that on another machine without buying the feature pack every time you build a run time?

          Hi,

I don't have any feature packs, do I have to have them? I didn't need them before.

          Thanks,

          Julie

Should I need to repost my sight after I restarted the server?

I restarted my server, but still have this error.

This is happening on any database I make changes to, this is a pretty serious problem as I need to make changes to DB's that are already in production.

              Please help!

Julie, are you getting the same errors when previewing on your development machine?

Most like a corrupted UI component but to make sure :

on the WAS activate A5XbasicErrorStackLog sends the result back to the board.
                  Your Alpha version number?

Did you make any changes to the table the grid is based on or to the fields in the grid? Are the linking fields present in the grid?

Check you linking fields where you link the content.

Try running the grid by itself in live preview. If it works their than remove it from the Tabbed UI save and than reselect it again.

No, it works fine - which is why I am puzzled.

I thought so too Eric, So I created a new component and a5w page to hold the component and tested that - I get the same error...

I am on version 10.5 Build 3739 and System Addins Build 3629

I have this same problem with apps created from my laptop as well.

                        I will activate a5xbasicErrorStackLog.

                          Julie,

No feature packs and then this message wird. "grid.ExportDataButton"
Make a backup of your apps sources.
Delete ALL the compiled file in your dev system.
Empty the LivePreview folder in de webroot
Open the grid edit something save the grid.
Do this also for all linked files that are attached to the problem grid.

Then compile all grids again toolbar-->edit-->> Bulk operation
Create a new webroot like c:\webdev deploy the apps

                          What are the results?

Is there a place where I can find the definition of this error message? I can't seem to locate any sort of reference. Thanks, Julie

What is the output of a5xbasicErrorStackLog?
