Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Not fixed - I used a different implementation.
Despite possibly getting my head ripped off - I do b elieve this is a bug.

Re: Lookup change does not "dirty" grid

      I have the same problem.
And it doesnt even dirty the fields. So if "field update setting" is set to "dirty fields only" (default) nothing is saved.

I had the same problem. Sent a bug report to alpha. Selwyn Rabins says the problem is fixed and will be in the next build.

            Same with me.
What I did in the interim :

            Under Detail View Properties,
set "Field update setting" to "All Fields"

Has this issue been resolved? I think I am on the latest build... perhaps the fix is in a build yet-to-come?

Re: Lookup change does not "dirty" grid

I am also wondering if anyone has figured this out? I am on the latest build...

I have a grid that is not editable, with an "editable" detailview. I use a "lookup grid" to fillin the values of the detailview fields. All appears to go well, a "save" button comes up. I save...

but the fields that are filled in from the "lookup" grid are not saved and disapear when I refresh the detailview record.

                Any suggestions?

                Thank you! Kim

Re: Lookup change does not "dirty" grid

I submitted a bug report in early July. It was fixed on July 11, 2011 and Selwyn sent me these links to get the version with the fix. I've sent these links via private email to 3 people thinking official version release would be available soon to fix the problem. Since that still has not happened I'm going to provide these links here. Hope that's okay. It did fix this problem.

                  Version 4456-3727

When Selywn sent me these links he said "this is pre-release code, so it comes with all of the usual caveats".

                    Thank you so much!

I will give it a try.

By the way, did any other problems crop up with these? I have had more than one instance of installing patches to fix an issue, only to find they caused more problems. Has been kind of frustrating.

Why not use javascript and make the grid dirty automatically?
You could do this on the OnBlur event of the lookup field.
                      {Grid.object}._setRowState(1,true);
                      would make row 1 dirty.

Thank you for the suggestion Jay.

However, This did not seem to work. I entered your code in the "OnBlur" as you suggested, but the issue remained the same. Everything "appears" to work, I do a save on the Detailview, but the fields are not updated in the Grid.
I also tried putting this code in the "OnChange".

Re: Lookup change does not "dirty" grid

This seems to be two issues:
The detail saving (check if the database is updated with the change) and the grid displaying the records.
Those can be two separate issues.
Does the javascript that I suggested make the detail view dirty?
If you would post the a5wcmp file and the table on which it is based, it would be easier to review.
