Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Lookup cell alignment issue.

I have a lookup and I changed the default icon.
Anybody know how to make the lookup and the new icon align vertically?
I have tried the Cell in-line style, no change. I tried freeform layout, no change.

Would have to see it in the page, and use Firebug to determine why the field is out of alignment (the icon looks good, the fields looks low).

Thank you Steve. I have looked at the structure of that coulumn. The elements are in a span I can't see any reason that would cause the alignment to display like that. I'm stuck on this one.

Can you assign a relative position to the Item No field, say a negative top value?

              Frank,

How did you change the dropdown icon? I'd like to duplicate what you have and then have a look as to why the spacing is off.

                David,

In a text field set as a lookup in the lookup type set to edit combo, in the lookup definition towards the bottom see image.

The reason I am doing this is so that you can select the edit combo dropdown with a finger.

iR, I am not sure how I can do that. I have tried to set the properties of the cell to middle.

While on this topic, does any one know how to align the drop down list. In my live preview it is left algned which is what I want. When I load to the server and view it is now centered. There doesn't seem to be an inline style to correct this. It only happens on the lookup on a textbox. If I use the combo there is no problem, however I want edit for a reason

                    Re: Lookup cell alignment issue.

Frank, I was thinking of the Label or Cell In-Line Style and setting the Position Mode settings. Looking at your first screenshot, I'm not sure it will do what you need.

Yes, the Text Box Properties, In-Line Style

                      position: relative; top: -6px;

works well for the large Icon I was using. You'll need to adjust a bit depending on your Icon, but this will do it. While testing, I found that doing a Live Preview, without saving first, did not incorporate the change.

Thanks guys. I didn't think to try the textbox alignment properties. I assumed that just controlled the text properties inside the textbox. But that did the trick and -6px was right on the money. Thanks again for the lesson.

At the bottom of the lookup definition - edit combo builder dialog you can create a display template. Just use one of the sample layouts and you can see what results you get.

Spoke too soon. The suggestion works in working preview but is not working in the browsers. Any other ideas?

My test icon isn't as pretty as yours, but works in Live Preview and published locally... looking good under Firefox and Chrome.
