Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Custom tool bar browse button opens browse with multiple records

In the attached sample there is a form called NAMESFORMTOOLBAR with a custom tool bar called FORMBAR
It has a button for a browse that open the default browse.
It will display for every main record (NAMES) as many record associated in the set.
I guess that is correct, but I need to show only a single record of NAMES when I select a browse from the tool bar.
I can create a button in the form that will open specific browse. That is one thing I am trying to avoid.
The solution could be to create a code to only open a single record for the main form.
    Can this be done?

Re: Custom tool bar browse button opens browse with multiple records

You mean you want to filter the browse to only show records for 'Susan'? and then toggle between form and browse mode? Is it necessary to have the form close when the browse is displayed? What about when you return to the form do you want to Show All records again? Or is this something generic you are wanting to do for any form that you attach this toolbar to? Lots of questions to answer first...

To get the browse to filter, you might need to set a global variable that is set as a filter for the browse (or shows all if blank). I will try it...

You are correct there are many situations. First ?
You mean you want to filter the browse to only show records for 'Susan'? No, I need to show all records. In other words clicking the browse button will open the complete table in a browse view.
Now because it is a set, all main records are shown many times, as many as there are related records in the set associated. example rec 000 susan in a browse will appears 5 times.

toggle between form and browse mode? Yes. Here there is a problem, If you are in record 000 Susan and select the browse, then in the browse, move to 001 peter record and return to the form a peculiar issue is displayed.
Yes you see record for Peter but the ID field shows the field name (ID) not the No. (001)

you might need to set a global variable . I agreed with you, and I think this can be done in the creation of calculated values, where each form will have a name of the browse associated in a variable.

What is your opinion and procedure?

I wonder what others have done in the past.

The first one is easy if you create a named browse for the set and assign it as the companion browse in the form properties. In the browse properties, just check 'show parent records only'. The F8 key will toggle the form & browse - or in this case the toolbar button which is doing the same thing the system button would do.

This may be a second response.
          Thanks, That was the solution.
As gratifying is to receive the solution to the problem, it frustrating that it was so obvious and I did not see it.
          Thanks again.

              So true...
PS: I just poste a similar issue:
              http://msgboard.alphasoftware.com/al...BY-FORM-button
I hope this one is more challenging, I have studied and can come one a solution.
I think is related to another issue in which you can not go backwards using the same search criteria using FIND BY FORM in a set.
