Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    QRB keeps shutting down

For awhile now, I have been having a problem with QRB runtime version shutting down on an employee trying to run reports. Whenever I go over there & log in as Admin in QB, it seems to fix the problem temporarily. Problem is intermittent - last Thursday, for instance, she was able to go in and print several end of month reports. Friday, however, she went to print one more and it shut down. She also tried to do it on my computer (I was out) using the main QRB (rather than runtime) but had the same error (still logged into QB as non-admin).

I just tried it again on my computer - logged in as me in QB, the print report in QRB gave me an error.
Logged in as admin without shutting QRB down first it got stuck on "executing sql" & I had to force shutdown.
Logged in as admin with new QRB going - gave errors & failed to refresh. Closed program.
Tried to close out of QB to go do test on employee's computer - says QRB is still using program! So, I'll post this and then restart computer. Sigh.

    Please assist!!

Running QB 2010 (but have several other QB versions on the computers)

    Re: QRB keeps shutting down

This is rare and is probably do to something on the computer setup..

Is My Documents on the local hard drive or mapped to a network drive?

Are you running one version of QB then another or are the older versions more historical. (I jump back and forth between 3 versions with no issues, but some users have had issues)

What flavor of windows and anti virus are you running?

My Documents is a "disconnected network drive"
      MS Windows XP Professional
Virus is either SuperAntiSpyware or Avast or both (not sure - they are both on)
QB - we currently are mainly using QB 2010 (95+% of the time). We have a small handful of clients on QB 2009 and QB 2011. We have multiple other versions used extremely rarely for accessing older client data. QB 2010 is the only one I am currently using QRB for (although at some point we may move the client file to QB 2011).

The QRB datawarehouse works better if located on the local drive. I'm thinking the problems you are having is related to the network location of My Documents.

You can change the location of the QReportBuilderData folder (which will take it out My Documents) to be a local drive.

The QReportBuilderData folder will be added to the directory that you enter...changeprojectfolder.png

Open QRB and after you have created a new project copy the entire QReportBuilderData directory from My Documents to the new location and overwrite the folder...

Did I mention that you should always backup the data folders prior to doing this kind of stuff??
