Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Working Preview Not Working after "compiling grid"

I have not had this issue prior to installing the latest update for A5 V10.5. (I am running A5 v10.5 development / application server package)

    What is occuring:
When I first open A5, the working preview for the grid components work UNTIL I make a change.
After I make a change to the grid component and click on "working preview", I get a message "compiling grid..." (normal), after which the Working Preview screen comes up as a completely blank white page.

This is consistent with ALL my grid components for which I previously have had no issues with.
If I close A5, then reopen, the Working preview once again workds UNTIL I make a change in the grid component, then I get the blank white page again.

Since I have never had this issue before, I REINSTALLED the previous A5 update/build. But I'm still having the same problem! I then reinstalled the latest update once again (I have also updated the application server with the same updates each time), I have shut down and restarted the computer multiple times, and am getting very frustrated.

Other than installing the A5 update, I have not made any other changes, updates, or installations to software on my computer. I am not having issues with any other programs on my computer. I am running Windows 7 on my laptop.

Has anyone else had this happen? What can I do to fix it? I use the Working Preview frequently, and this is wasting alot of time.

Thank you to anyone that can help ! Kim

Has anyone else experienced the "blank" screens with "Working Preview" ?

I have gone back and completely re-installed A5, then reinstalled the latest patch, and I'm still having problems.
Are there issues with windows 7? What about known issues with Kaspersky?

Don't know if this will help. I had an issue with nod32 blocking my localhost requests. I had to turn it off in the settings to get the live preview to work.

how do I turn that off?

Also, I am running Internet Explorer 9, could this be causing problems?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Kaspersky. Look through the settings and disable anything that blocks localhost requests.

Re: Working Preview Not Working after "compiling grid"

It appears that there is some sort of conflict with Internet Exploerer 9 and the latest A5 release.

(I was using IE 9 with the previous release and had no problems, but after upgrading to the newest release, I could not even get the previous release to work again in this area)

After spending an entire day uninstalling and re-installing everything else that I could possibly think of, I finally uninstalled IE 9 (which I had installed in June), backing up to IE 8, and everything appears to be working fine again, even with no changes in Kaspersky.
