Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Security Set Problems. Invalid Login Information
    Web Version 10.5

For a complete document including screen shots please attached file.

Please help to overcome what must be a very basic problem which is frustrating a considerable amount of application development.
The overall experience is very positive and we are very please to have selected Alpha5 as our development platform.
However, having completed the following tasks in the following order I am unable to go any further as the above message is received.

    1. Security configuration Established required policy.
    2. Created users, ids based on email address.
    3. Created user groups and added users to groups.
    4. Created a login component and proceeded to make the recommended changes
to enlarge the email size etc.
    5. Published security files.

    6. Created an A5 page and then proceeded to insert a component, in this case the login component.
    7. Saved, published

And run the function only to receive the following message.

Whilst most of the above apart from the error message make sense, I am not clear about the role of A5Webroot as the publishing and the profile used to publish is defined as follows:
    Many thanks

    1. ?? -->What is your setting in the security config [ user id options ] did you change that to email and then published [again].You also have to publish login again for safety.
Did you check the [all]security files are available in the webroot? for sure publish again.
Are the users (you created by default) also available in the published security system use active link to check.
What is the tabe type you are using DBF/SQL?

      Thank you for your response
      - the user option is set to email.
      - republished everything
"Did you check the [all]security files are available in the webroot? for sure publish again."
I am using Alpha 5 tables.

Thank you for pointing out Webroot. All the files as shown on the attachment are published in a
sub directory of the application "C:\Horizon\Prochainmatrix.WebProjects\Default.WebProject".

I then copied all files from Default.WebProject to the A5Webroot\LivePreview
      and is now working.
Please note that all above information is based on a developer lab top.

What adjustments are needed to avoid these issues.
      Many thanks

Re: Security Set Problems. Invalid Login Information

Couple points depending on what you are doing:

        - security never works in LivePreview. That is ONLY for testing individual forms and grids and nothing else.
        - You said you "published" to "C:\Horizon\Prochainmatrix.WebProjects\Default.WebProject". Do you mean you actually clicked Publish and had that as the target and, using Alpha Five's Publishing option, published your web files to that location? Tell me this is not true.

          Hi Steve,
I am on a very steep learning curve. Similar to your background I have been working with Dataease and Ffenics in the last 22 years until now.

security never works in Live Preview. That is ONLY for testing individual forms and grids and nothing else.
Thank you for clearing the above point. I have watched most training videos several times and I do not recall a clear message on this point.

Not exactly. The above is the result of my action. I published using the Local Webroot profile which has the following alias definition:
          [PathAlias.ADB_Path] = =a5.get_path()

I will be grateful for all comments and advice.

Maybe - when you publish security files be sure to check the box "Data tables for Users and Groups", and test from the published location, not live preview. Users are stored in the Development copy when you update the Users and Groups dialog, and only transferred to the website if you publish including the above option.

Steve, I'm not quite sure where you were going with the "tell me it's not true." Were you just trying to verify the location of the published files, or did you have some other line of thought in the works?

Re: Security Set Problems. Invalid Login Information

If you publish over your development files, you completely ruin all of the components in your project. Your project files are at: projectname.WebProjects\Default.WebProject".
