Default Syntax to use Image as background for grid container?

I'm trying to use an image as the background for a grid container. A solid color works in that field (by specifying the color, not a solid colored image) - but anything I've tried to use an image file doesn't, I just get blank white. Does anybody have any tips?

It appears that your image is not in the webroot. If you browse to http://www.artformhomeplans.com/LeftNavBox.png I get your error page.

Yeah - I'm testing it on my localhost first. It's in that web root. And my application is currently on afhp.co, not yet switched over to artformhomeplans.com - it's in that webroot also.

Are you sitting down? Guess what.... somethings wrong. You should be able to browse to the image and display it in the browser. Spelling? Case is critical?

Nope - that's not the problem. The image is in it's correct spot.

Here it is displaying on my localhost:

And here you can see it on my live site:

And - it works if I put the full path in. But, I don't want a full path. I need to do this in many places and I'm migrating the application from afhp.co to it's final spot at artformhomeplans.com soon - want and need to use PathAlias.

So - I'm looking for the correct syntax to do this with Path Alias, not a "fully qualified" path.

The image file is not in your root. It is in the images sub directory. so the correct file name to use would be '\images\LeftNavBox.png'

Aha! That does it. I was trying to actually put the [PathAlias.ADB.... in. I guess it just knows to look wherever the main PathAlias says. Cool.

    Sanku berry much!!!!!

Oops - spoke too soon. It appears to work in the grid preview. It does not work when published.

Nothing to do with images and Path Aliases could possibly be that simple! ;-) Big Sigh. I may have to put hard paths and just redo them all when I switch. That just feels so wrong.

    Try './images/LeftNavBox.png'

    update

I just created a grid using a container with a background image using /images/Background.png and the grid displayed the background properly. Are you sure you have a sub directory named images that contains the image file under the web root to which you are publishing?

All paths are relative from the root in which your application opens (web root).

It feels wrong because it is. You don't have to hard code the file paths.

Aha! Do I see a little red dot in there? I thought I'd tried everything. I didn't try that - and that does indeed work. Well, either that or the dot isn't necessary and I didn't type it right when I tried it before. I really really really did try it with just the /images/LeftNavBox.png. Or maybe my slashes went the wrong way... Oh I don't know, I tried so many things I forget what I tried!

Thank you thank you thank you. Even though I COULD get the task done with a hard path, and the world would not have ended, it was really buggin' me that I couldn't make this simple thing work.

http://www.afhp.co/HomeownersGuide.a5w - Wahoo! Pay no attention to the way it's all squished too tight to the left margin, I still need to tweak some settings.

    Aha again.

I am not dreaming. On localhost - it only works with that dot added! I have two grids, one has more detail - put the dot in that one, used it on my inner pages. On the one for my home page, no dot. Inner pages display correctly everywhere. Home page - incorrect on localhost, correct on hosting server.

So, I can type, I can read.... Whew! Get those men with the funny white jackets away from me! No wait, that one on the left is kinda cute.... ;-)
