Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

        Re: V11 Calendar-Scheduler

Just because its done in jquery doesn't mean it is limited to the web. You can put web based stuff in forms or xdialog.

        selwyn Portlets - 24-01-2011 -1.txt

Is something I started work on back in January and showed Selwyn because he was interested at the time. It is a framework for drag and drop jquery portlets on an MDI Xdialog.

There is potential for anything that is web based to be on the desktop as well with V11.

I agree lance but from what I understand about this component is a third party licence which is based on a per domain licensing.

Yes I was very concerned about the cost of the Calendar feature pack and that We would have to pay on top of it to use it, so I questioned this, and got an email assuring me that all the fuctionality of the calendar, GIS (Mapping) and mobile feature would be included with the subscription. So I subscribed!

                  Re: V11 Calendar-Scheduler

here is the reply to the email I sent, seems pretty convincing to me

                  Hello Lance,

You Asked: “I am interested in the subscription offer, but am concerned about the calendar/schedule action pack that is 800 and extra to buy the additional software license? What is the extra when we were told this would be included in v11”

I’m not sure if I understand your question fully. The calendar feature along with GIS (mapping) and mobile feature are all included in the Charter Subscription plan.
If I dont get to use the calendar, without spending extra, then somebody at Alpha has some explaining to do!

                    Re: V11 Calendar-Scheduler

(This feature pack requires the use of a 3rd party component, sold separately.)

                    Regular price: $799
The way I read it, the $799 is for Alpha's work in providing the hooks to a 3rd party package and that cost is included in the subscription. The 3rd party component sounds like it needs to be purchased separately but it does not indicate if it is a one time purchase or a per server purchase.

                      Re: V11 Calendar-Scheduler

I think my question to Alpha was pretty self explanitory, I asked it because I had seen what Chad and Jeff are pointing out. I have also gone on the web2cal (the 3rd party component) site and seen what they give away and sell.

I have somewhere, an email documenting that Alpha would be striking a deal with the calendar component company, which is why I presume the cost of this particular feature pack is so high compared to others. I think the reply from Alpha confirms that the calendar is included in my charter subscription, if I cannot use it because I dont have some other component, then it may be included but it is useless!

Ok this was added to the wiki on the 8th September

                        Calendar Component
Optional feature pack, included in subscription; requires an additional 3rd-party license that is not included in a subscription
2 weeks after I got the e-mail from Alpha, I feel I have been misled!

I spotted it at the time of my query to Alpha, from the emailed response I was led to believe that the calendar component would work under the charter subscription plan. Obviously this is not the case, unless I get the additional component.

I would really like someone from Alpha and/or someone using the v11 beta to speak to this, because a phone conversation with a sales rep had me believing that this was part of the subscription plan as well.
