Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: V11 Calendar-Scheduler

In light of the email from Richard to Lance I would think clarification is required. My reading of the advert is that you need to spend more bucks on a third party component but Richards response didn't comment on the license issue that Lance raised. I can see why that would lead you to beleive there are no issues and nothing else to pay as I'm sure Richard wouldn't of dodged it intentionally.

If it is a deal breaker I would imagine they will refund the money to those that feel they have been misled or have misinterpreted ambiguous correspondence. However, if Lances's interpretation is correct and you don't need to purchase a 3rd party component under the subscription plan then the advert needs to explain things more clearly.

I rolled the dice back in January and signed up to the charter subscription even though I new I wouldn't get a lot of time to use V10, it would seem it is going to be money well spent. From what I can gather Alpha have taken on much of the critism of the past few years and are trying to do something about it. I'm sure it won't be perfect but I'm hoping that with all these new features they have managed to improve the stability of the product because no one wants a repeat of V9. That's why I'm happy to wait for it to be ready and I think the payment of the charter subscriptions has enabled them (financially) not to have to rush it out. Fingers crossed.

TO clarify, I did not seen where Lance mentioned that it was Richard that replied to his email question. It could have been a salesperson or someone else at Alpha.

Yes as Jeff pointed out I did not mention Richard, and it was from a salesperson

My apologies Lance you are right you didn't mention Richard. It had been a long day and I think because most my correspondence in the past has been with Richard I must have subconciously assumed the email was from him. Either way I would be surprised if they didn't offer you your money back if you decided you didn't want the subscription due to the confusion over the calender.

Hopefully there was a discount negotiated for Alpha users. Gaining a whole group of developers could really bump up their sales.

I just looked back at an email in regards to the charter subscription and it clearly states that it uses a 3rd party software. I may seem that the car was sold without the key but they did tell us in the emails. Have a look at the advertisement.

Maybe Alpha is developing there own software to work with this component!

                Re: V11 Calendar-Scheduler

Rep <> sales person! Salesperson has valid knowledge and/or will get a good answer before committing to something. I would therefore call a rep a rep and a salesperson a salesperson.

Conversation today with one of the reps trying to sell the package to me: you do NOT have to sign up for anything extra pay to use the calendar scheduler if you get the maximum package and you can deploy all the runtimes you want with no extra cost.

NOW the real kicker from this rep: you can access that from a web phone or tablet(remember, this is desktop).

                Validity of this rep? Unknown!!

My belief is: there are unknowledgeable "reps" trying to be salespeople at Alpha right now. I always loved it when I got a customer that had been at another dealership(remember I was in the car business for over 50 years) that had been misled about product, pricing, financing and service. I ate them up!!!

Did you happen to get a reps name?
