Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Dialog box with choice of List

    Hi,

    Please advise how to show only the selected list from the radio button in the position of the top list.

    See attached of dialog with both lists displayed, only one list at a time is required.

          Keith,
          Are saying that you want only one list box to show in the dialog based upon the value of the radio buttons, or only the values in one of the two list box to be listed?

            Yes. I think the {condition=logical expression} should do the job.

              Just a quick update to say thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

              Used sample from Leaning XDialog, Lesson 4-> Controlling the Layout of Dialogs.Conditional Controls.

              Took a few tries before I fully understood the syntax, but got there in the end.

                Hi All,

                I attached my scripts to help others because I had trouble to apply "{condition}".

                Code:
                varC_Find = ui_dlg_box("Find Product",<<%dlg%
                {frame=1,7:  How do you want to find the product?}
                {region}
                {lf};
                {sp=3}Find By:| (vFindby={By Series,By Color});
                {lf=2};
                {endregion};

                {region}
                {lf}; Enter to Find;
                {lf};
                [COLOR="#FF0000"]{condition=(vFindby="by Series")}
                {region=b}{sp=2}Series:| [%@vSeriesId_rl_def%.40vSeriesId]{endregion}
                {condition=(vFindBy="by color")}{start_pos}
                {region=b}{sp=2}ColorNo:| [%@vColorNo_rl_def%.40vColorNo]{endregion}
                {endregion};
                {condition=.t.}[/COLOR]
                {lf};
                {line=1,0};
                {region=c}
                {justify=right}
                <*15=ok_button_label!OK> <15=cancel_button_label!CANCEL>
                {endregion};
                %dlg%)
                and asking other issue on this scripts.
                First question - Why the {frame= } did not draw the line around Radio button?

                Second question -- How do you write the Query and shows the form?
                Code:
                If varC_Find ="&OK" then
                	select
                	    case vSeriesId<>""
                	    	Query.order=""
                	    	query.filter = "Series_id="+quote(vSeriesId)
                	    	q = table.get("series").query_create()
                	    case vColorNo<>""
                	    	Query.order=""
                	    	query.filter = "Series_id="+quote(vColorNo)
                	    	q = table.get("series").query_create()
                	end select
                	[COLOR="#0000FF"]if q.records_get()>0 then
                	    parent.resynch()
                	    'parentform.Resynch()
                	end if [/COLOR]

                  Re: Dialog box with choice of List

                  Try this.
                  There were too many lines chosen (7) for your frame. You have a modal dialog, so you don't typically have to designate the OK button was pushed, just close the box and condition the others being pushed. You have only one variable being processed in the dialog that has to be handled through the select. I changed that to 'vchoice'. The filters are confounding because you have the filter the same for both color and series. Does the color one need to address another field (see red)? Best I could do with what I had.

                  Code:
                  dim vchoice as C=""

                  SHOWAGAIN:
                  varC_Find = ui_dlg_box("Find Product",<<%dlg%
                  {frame=1,0:  How do you want to find the product?}
                  {region}
                  {lf};
                  {sp=3}Find By:| (vFindby={By Series,By Color});
                  {lf=2};
                  {endregion};
                  {region}
                  {lf}; Enter to Find;
                  {lf};
                  {condition=(vFindby="by Series")}
                  {region=b}{sp=2}Series:| [%@vSeriesId_rl_def%.40vchoice]{endregion}
                  {condition=(vFindBy="by color")}{start_pos}
                  {region=b}{sp=2}ColorNo:| [%@vColorNo_rl_def%.40vchoice]{endregion}

                    Mike,

                    Thank you very much.

                    I can see the Frame line and understood the causing. This script is showing the result on the form now.
                    case vFindby="By Color"
                    Query.order=""
                    query.filter = "Series_id="+quote(vColorNo) <-- I have the KeyListBuilder and get the "Series_id" result value. I also have the Series_id field in the Colors table.
                    q = table.get("series").query_create()
                    'TEST FOR CANCEL OR NO CHOICE MADE
                    if varC_Find="cancel"
                    end
                    else if vSeriesId="" .or. vColorNo="" <-- I have an Error here. A5 does not recognize those variables.
                    UI_msg_box("ERROR","Nothing was chosen",48)
                    GOTO SHOWAGAIN

                      Re: Dialog box with choice of List

                      That would be why I changed it in the script I sent back. Again, there is only 1, ONE, UNNO, Solitary, 2-1, 3-2, variables being generated in this dialog at one time that contains a value for the filter.

                      ....
                      {condition=(vFindby="by Series")}
                      {region=b}{sp=2}Series:| [%@vSeriesId_rl_def%.40vchoice]{endregion}
                      {condition=(vFindBy="by color")}{start_pos}
                      {region=b}{sp=2}ColorNo:| [%@vColorNo_rl_def%.40vchoice]{endregion}
                      {endregion};
                      {condition=.t.}
                      ....

                      It is this variable which the user enters in the dialog field that the script should looks to evaluate. Although you could try to dim the vSeriesId and vColorNo and see if this makes any difference.

                        UNNO
                        I learned a lot, ... a lot. I do not have to use two variables and sometime, whenever the variables are working as I want, I will think about the "ONE"
