Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    JQuery UI CSS

    In the Web Project Properties you can now set the JQuery UI CSS. If I then go to a grid and set the style type to a JQuery I do not get the style I selected in the Web Project Properties.

    Re: JQuery UI CSS

    Seems like this isn't fully implemented yet. Looking into the html code gives this stuff:
    Code:
    class="[class.gridPart]"
    class="[class.gridHeader]"
    class="[class.gridData]"
    I then went to the component in alpha and clicked on Class map, because it seems to not be mapping the fields at all.
    Notice 2321: Default class map for style type 'JQuery' has not been defined.
    So it seems like either Alpha hasn't finished it yet, or we'll need someone to create a default class map to share.

      Re: JQuery UI CSS

      I am not sure what you mean by 'finished'. Everything that we intended to do regarding jQuery, jQueryUI and jQuery CSS has been implemented and is working. That's not to say that in the future we won't come up with more ideas. I am sure we will.

      Just to be clear, the functionality relating to jQueryUI CSS is implemented and working. Perhaps you were expecting some behavior that is not meant to be part of A5.

      If you go Web Project Properties and you specify the name of a jQuery CSS theme to be loaded, it WILL be loaded. You can clearly see that for yourself by doing a View, Source on the page.
      Beyond loading the CSS, nothing further is implied by this property in Project Settings. Just because you happen to load a jQuery CSS file does NOT imply that any of the Alpha components will automatically use that CSS.

      If you run a Grid and you turn OFF the 'resolve abstract class map', then if you View Source, you will see class names such as [class.gridPart] - these are the so called abstract class names.
      If you turn ON 'resolve class map' then the abstract class names are resolved to CSS names in the A5 styles, (such as GrBlueData, etc).
      That's because the default class map that the components use map abstract class names to A5' class names.

      If you want to use jQuery class names in your Grid, you are free to, but it is YOUR responsibility to create your OWN class map that maps the abstract class names to jQuery class names.
      All of the components allow you to define a custom class map.

        Thanks for the info.....but the info you just provided is know where to be found.....thats my point. When you say "Perhaps you were expecting some behavior that is not meant to be part of A5."....I am not sure what to expect since it is not clearly defined anywhere.

        This is all the information in the WIKI I could find

        JQuery Support

        Web Project Properties
        You can now specify that jQuery and jQueryUI should be automatically loaded when your application runs. The Web Project Properties dialog allows you to specify from where jQuery should be loaded. You can choose 'Internal' - which loads jQuery from a resource in the Alpha Five executables, or choose to load jQuery from the Google Content Delivery Network. You can also specify the name of a jQuery UI CSS theme to load, and if you specify that jQuery should be loaded from Google, you can now specify the explicit version number to load. All .a5w pages that contain any type of Alpha Five component will automatically load the specified jQuery files and CSS.

          Hey Tom,
          Did you ever get any additional info on this post? I am using a template that utilizes jquery. I added a dialog component. I can maintain the alpha component style or use the template form style.

          The problem I am having is it seems the js is interfering with the dialog components ability to save a record or to reset the component.

          I am not sure what is meant by Alpha owns the $. My template is using several jquery scripts. I tried stripping them away but cannot get the component to work. It am locating it on a scroll pane.

          Any incite is appreciated.
          Tks

            So I must use the word jquery to replace each instance of a $ sign in a script like this?

            Cufon.now();
            var $content = $('#content'),
            $contentDD = $('#content>dd');

            $(document).ready(function(){
            $content.css({marginTop:'164px'});

            $("a[rel^='prettyPhoto']").prettyPhoto({theme:'facebook'});
            clearInput('contact_form');
            $contentDD.css({display:'none'})
            });
            $(window).load(function(){

            $content.animate({marginTop:'174px'}, 300, function(){
            $(this).animate({marginTop:'164px'}, 400);
            $(this).prev("header").find("h1 a").fadeIn(500, function(){
            $(this).next().fadeIn(300);
            });
            });

                yes. you need to change all instances of $ in the jQuery code to not use the $ function name because a5 has defined is own $ function.

                  Re: JQuery UI CSS

                  Struggling with this not sure I'm on the right track. The page is running if someone wants to take a look. I can't get the simple dialog component on the contact scroll pane to reset or save. The page is a part of an html5 template.

                  If anyone wants to take a look the domain is http://fixmygaslogs.com its running.

                  I would like to build a web app around this template using the scroll panes for various components.

                  I've spent 2 weeks getting nowhere trying to get these 2 buttons to work.

                  Sounds like a great weekend project for someone who is snowed in. :)

                  I can email the actual template. [email protected]

                  Much Appreciated,
                  Bob
