Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: Looking for a compatible third-party gantt/scheduler control

I have tried using the Gantt Chart provided by Steve, but for some reason, the chart does not render. I am completely new to Fusion Charts and Steve is busy teaching a class. So I thought I'd throw my resulting source code and XML view out here to see if anyone can see at a glance why my chart does not render. I keep thinking that I might not have something placed correctly in my A5WebRoot. I did put the js files there, and the Charts folder is right there in the root with the swf file in it. hmmmmm

      Carol,

I am also using the Genie that Steve has created, and your source looks just like mine. Did you add .swf as an allowed file type in web security?

Also, based on your processes, 300 X 300 may be too small. Try it at 600 X 800.

Nice, Pat. I'm jealous.. I'm not using the Alpha security due to our structure. I just tried changing to 600 H and 600 W but still not working. Here's a blah, blah, blah video: http://screencast.com/t/ZGlTkPgTC

            Carol,

I created a folder in my web root named "FusionCharts" and put the charts and JavaScript both in there. Then, I fiddled a bit with the builder and the top of my source looks like:

FusionCharts will load here

                    S/B

Looks like data is being pulled properly.

Oops, forgot to change that back on my page. Did so ( http://screencast.com/t/SmibTyyvEue ) ..... chart still does not render. I have tried in IE and in Firefox. I keep thinking there is something is not installed for the auto play of that swf file... although the Gantt charts in the Fusion Widgits Gallery folder play properly in my IE browser... so I'm stumped.

Just an aside... I was playing with the charts in the Fusion Widgits Gallery and I REALLY like this one: http://screencast.com/t/jp85Gjp2 . I look forward to working with Fusion to see if I can accomplish one like that, since my Schedule table contains both the intended start and end dates AND the revised actual start and end dates.

You can also see that my browser displays those gallery ones just fine.

I just noticed that the FusionWidgits Gallery folder has a folder named Data that contains the xml files those sample charts must be referring to. Should an xml file be showing up in my session folder when I open my gantt page? I just ran it to see if an xml file showed up in my session folder and there isn't one... but maybe there isn't supposed to be one... since that data is on the page... I don't know.

try placing this line just below the
tag.

Have you poked around in the IE developer tools to see if the FusionCharts.js is loading?
