Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Security(Menu Items Enable/Disable)

I tried to search the forum but could not find any specific answer on my previous question, Is it possible in Alpha Five to Enable/Disable/Hide certain menu items
according to a user log-in? E.g. Admin user logs in, he sees all the menu items, Encoder logs-some/most of the menu items are disabled. An example of a menu item would be,
the User (add edit delete ), encoder should not be able to add edit delete users of an application, Last but not the least, I want to implement in my application that end users
will create new users and assign specific roles to each user, many of the solutions i found here on this problem is that the solution is for developers doing the manual thing, what i want to implement is that even end users with no knowledge in alpha five can just point and click.thanks so much!

How to design a custom menu.

For each item on a menu there is a place to define an Enable expression.
    There can be only one.

I gave you an example Roman of how to set up security across a number of users in a previous post of yours regarding the second part of thi subject above..
      Was that
      a) of no interest
      b) unworkable for you
      c) unintelligible/lost/dog ate it

If you want another example, I'll (re)build you an example which will restrict certain actions.

Apologies to anyone I haven't managed to upset yet.

          Re: Security(Menu Items Enable/Disable)

See attached for Tbls 1,2,3. There are two different methods.
Method 1 has referential integrity set across the three tables and the Link is ID. The records with the same ID will all show.
Method 2 has table 1 and 2 linked by ID and table 2 and 3 Linked by a different field. The records will show where a matching ID for tbl 1 & 2 exists, and a record where the linking fields match in tbls 2 and 3.

Pull the sets apart and you will see what's going on. Save records to see changes.

I'll do a Security one tomorrow as you will have enough to worry about getting a grip on the attached.
To simplify, only think of the links between 2 tables at a time. Build and proove the logic before adding another table and therefore another link.

Thank you so much Ted, I'll try to see and learn from your solution. Hope i can add a record on the first table then add a detail on the second table and add another detail based on the second table.
