Using if/then when defining action button to print a report

I am relatively new to the web side and am having difficulty learning how to define a conditional if/then when defining an action button to print a report.

I need to be able to print one of three reports for a selected record based on the value of a field in the grid, for example:

If field1 = "abc" then print report named report1
If field1 = "def" then print report named report2
If field1 = "ghi" then print report named report3

Any help appreciated...

I don't have a lot of time, but have you thought of having 4 buttons? First button runs the if/then code and each If statement calls an appropriate button that opens an appropriate report. You can hide the 3 buttons that open the 3 reports by putting 1=2 in the Show/Hide property for those buttons, but you should NOT hide those buttons by checking their Hide property. Since I like Xbasic, I would probably put my if/then stuff in Xbasic, but you can probably do it in javascript.

In my Xbasic functions, I often call a button's onClick property like this:

functionName = "var ele = $('"+e.tmpl.componentname +".V.R{grid.rowNumber}._UNBOUND_BUTTON_1');ele.click();"

You would, of course be changing the button number for each condition. The line above calls button 1 .

If you call the button from inline javascript, it might have to be something like below (which I can't guarantee because I keep getting confused by the row.number stuff for inline javascript.

var ele = $('GRID1.V.R{grid.rowNumber}._UNBOUND_BUTTON_5');ele.click();"

Also, you may need to insert the buttons on the grid rather than using an Action button.... not sure
