Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

How to make tabbedui button look like a hyperlink

I want my tabbedui button to be a hyperlink that looks like all the other hyperlinks in the application; underscored text that, when you hover over it, fades out and has a little hand pointing to it.

It doesn't. It is underscored text that when I hover over it, it looks like a button or text with a color block over it.

How do you make the 'tabbedui button = hyperlink' really be a hyperlink?

Ok now .. the 1st pic shown here shows the default setting for a 'hyperlink' on the tabbed UI. The 2nd Pic shows what it looks like when I hover over it. The 3rd pic shows what it looks like - and what I would like for it to look like - in one of Selwyns demo videos.

Everywhere that I look in the Style Builder, a "link" looks like a link as shown in pic #3. I assume this would be a control but who knows? How do I make the link look like a link and not a depressed button? What is the object called so that I might find it in style builder?

Re: How to make tabbedui button look like a hyperlink

The problem is that the button "stuff" gets rendered into the hyperlink as "onmouse" events. This is the rendered HTML/Javascript from an "Other Control" Hyperlink

      Code:
      <a style="" class="GrGrayLink" href="#" title="" id="HYPERLINK_1">This is Hyperlink Text</a>

and this is the HTML/Javascript rendered from a Tabbed UI Button Hyperlink.

      Code:
      <a onmouseout="$rcn(this,'GrGrayButtonPressed');$rcn(this,'GrGrayButtonHover');" onmouseover="$acn(this,'GrGrayButtonHover');" onmouseup="$rcn(this,'GrGrayButtonPressed');" onmousedown="$acn(this,'GrGrayButtonPressed');" onclick="action_tbi_e7d3539e_ebaf_488c_b57a_519474adc051(); return false;" title="" style="" class="GrGrayLink" href="#">Price Lookup</a>
It's all the onmouse events that are causing the problem. If they're taken out, with just the onclick left in place, then the hyerlink behaves as you'd think it would.

If there was a way to add an ID to the Tabbed UI Button Hyerlink then the onmouse events could be changed. There an ID available for the Other Controls Hyerlink, but not for the Tabbed UI Button.

You could create a new style to get around this but maybe there's a better way... not sure. Maybe ask Selwyn why the hyperlink behaves like a button.

Thank you. Very good explanation. I have sent Selwyn a message asking why it behaves this way. I would think there has to be a better way and maybe Selwyn will explain how to do that. Otherwise I guess I have to play with style sheets whenever I get some time.

i think that it should be considered a bug that the hyperlink has onhover events like a button. i will change this for the next update.

              Selwyn -

Thanks for fixing the hyperlink onhover events for the ui button. But I've discovered that it still does not work when the container is a tree control. Hyperlink is an available "Object Type" in the tree control .. but when selected .. the tabbed ui button does not display as a hyperlink. It still looks like a button.
