Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Very Easy Way to UPLOAD FILE AND SAVE ( one click )

    upload.PNG

hello all , i wanted to share very simple way for those who asks for a button ( Uploading , Saveing ) in one click
so the way to do that , is to add one button with your grid fields ( am suggesting this field to be the last row in your grid ) .
so once you add that , you shoud go to ( on click properties ) for the button ,
    click add action ( inline-java script )

write this line behind the code

    {grid.object}.submitGridPart();

    then click action again ,
and just follow up with the uploading feature pack

without having the above java , you will always get the msg ( you have to save the record first )

so what am doing when you click the button , is saving the current grid then the popup windows of upload will appear next
you can also refresh the grid and your grid will interact directly with the attached photo ( if we are dealing with jpg )
please check attachment , i promise this is easy and working like a charm .

    have fun all

    Regards
    Ahmed Sh

So the first action always fires before the second action? I've wondered about that because I was always being told that all the javascript fired at the same time. That's very slick, Ahmed Sh. Thanks for sharing it.

        This doesn't work for me.
The message still prompts to save. And after you click through the prompt, the grid is still saved and cleared.

Re: Very Easy Way to UPLOAD FILE AND SAVE ( one click )

I have a form grid with the "add records only" option checked in the properties, and there is no need for users to see existing records. So essentially, I have one blank record at a time.

The mouse-over sounds like a good idea. But the entered information clears from the fields upon saving, and a fresh record pops up.

            Thoughts?

Joshua start a new thread. I don't think this has anything pertaining to what you are asking.

The File Upload enables one to choose a file and save its path in a field.
I need this to happen for new records; not for those that exist.

I actually tried this before I found this thread...I tried this in IE,Chrome and Firefox and it does not appear to work....

I would love to get around the need to save the record first or maybe stated another way, save the record before the upload Feature Pack fires so this all happens in one click. Seems to work this way with other examples...

Thanks Pete but I saw that one before. That's not exactly what I'm looking for.

If the JavaScript fired in order in the above example, everything would be perfect but apparently it does not. I know zero about how JavaScript works so like many others, we just look to improvise and adapt.

                          Still looking.

ok i think .. the java script runs in other machine depends on how proccessor speed read the code .
in this case above its working in my laptop . but when i tried it in my work pc it did not work at all ...
so i am now thinking about making a java script timer code like 2 second befor the upload code works out .
any one can help me to achive this ?

this is the point i think people are looking for .. is to get the java script works in order .

Maybe someone can make heads or tails of this and apply it to your code.
