    Default dot net serial port communications

    Using the example found here: http://wiki.alphasoftware.com/DotNet...%20Serial%20IO I'm trying to open a serial port...
    Code:

    dim sp as system::io::Ports::SerialPort
    sp.PortName = "COM3"
    sp.BaudRate = 38400
    sp.Parity.value__ = 0
    sp.Open()
    I get an error "Access to the port 'com3' is denied.

    Com3 is working using HyperTerminal and the scanner scans to that. How do I unblock access to com3?

    HyperTerminal was using the port when open.

    Yes, but with an active-x control, not dot net.

    Hello I am using the same routine trying to read a ubw32 which I flashed with maximite basic and is sending a string at 2 sec intervals to my usb which listens to com10
    Eventually my ubw32 will strobe in characters from an lpt1 port which is on an emergency fire brigade device. This data goes to a printer which is now outdated.
    So instead it will be 'strobed into the ubw32 which will send it to my usb on the pc. I want Alphav11 to read it and ftp the data to a website. Sending to ftp is easy.
    To come back to your routine. Sometimes it works a little then I get an access denied error. When resetting it all it will work again for a few strings.
    I wonder if there is further documentation at hand on how to implement "system::io::serialport" stuff properly. I believe it is not that difficult. I will persist with this
    as it will give us all a handy "all in one " solution with a5v11. So Help anybody out there. Please.

    Goto: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...erialport.aspx for information about the Serial Port Class.
