Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Error code 1919 on http_get and http_fetch

    Hey all, I'm trying to get a json response back from a web page written in php. I've got the php code working properly, returning exactly the response I need (I'll show you how I verified that). But I'm getting an error_code: 1919 from http_get and _fetch, with the error text: Timed out reading headers: Socket timeout reading data. Some data was available, but the read was incomplete within the timeout intervae Which comes back immediately (even though _get has a timeout of 8000ms and _fetch 45000ms)

    This is my code
    Code:
    'get all the variables
    dim parameters as c = "?"
    parameters = parameters + "summary=" + e.dataSubmitted.summary + "&"
    parameters = parameters + "start=" + e.dataSubmitted.start + "&"
    parameters = parameters + "end=" + e.dataSubmitted.end + "&"
    parameters = parameters + "description=" + e.dataSubmitted.description + "&"
    parameters = parameters + "location=" + e.dataSubmitted.location + "&"
    parameters = parameters + "access_token=" + g_getAccessToken() + "&"
    parameters = parameters + "calendarId=" + g_getCalendarId(session.territory)

    if session.regionnum == 3 then
        parameters = parameters + "&central=1"
    end if

    'pass them off to php

    'FOR FETCH
    dim fetch as p
    fetch.host = "localhost"
    fetch.port = 8080
    fetch.page = "postEvent.php"
    fetch.query_string = parameters
    dim response as p = http_fetch(fetch)

    'FOR GET
    dim url as c = "http://localhost/postEvent.php"
    'dim response as p = http_get(url+parameters,"",8080)

    '?response.body
    url+parameters is
    Code:
    http://localhost:8080/postEvent.php?summary=Brace Place&start=04/02/2012 09:00 am&end=04/02/2012 09:00 am&description=Telemarketer: Kyle McNallySales Rep: Angie Alvarez-- Prospect Information --Prospect ID: 934326695Prospect Name: Brace PlaceContact Name: Geri LeeverPhone: 813-988-9136&location=9806 N 56th St , Tampa, FL 33617&access_token=ya29.AHES6ZSl7EixdsMy9xPm3c-TqIKM6zw59vEjK-gv9hdJbwDeBplcLb8&calendarId=jktpa.com_ka3pbomnkemtdbm17ot9j5dc1o@group.calendar.google.com
    This url, when pasted in my browser, correctly returns the JSON I need. So I am positive that my PHP code works correctly. The problem is in alpha.

    So again, when http_get or http_fetch run, they return back
    Code:
    response.{
    body=,
    error_text=Timed out reading headers: Socket timeout reading data. Some data was available, but the read was incomplete within the timeout interval.,
    error_code=1919,
    headers=,
    parsed_headers=
    }

    Re: Error code 1919 on http_get and http_fetch

    Parameters is not a valid query string because of the way you have built it. You need to use urlencode() on the parameter values, such as
    Code:
    parameters = parameters + "summary=" + urlencode(e.dataSubmitted.summary) + "&"
    A browser would automatically do this encoding for you, so this means that the PHP page is receiving something different from the browser as compared to your Xbasic code.

      Awesome! That did it.

      Just for fyi, I tried to do urlencode(parameters) inside the http_get function, but it converted all the ? and the &'s to their encoded equivalents and it didn't work. So I had to put them each in individually as Lenny stated.
