Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Help with Javascript

    Hi, right now I'm just three steps away from a working cart... I would be very grateful for some guidance with the first one. In the body of my checkout page I have copied in the following WorldPay code:

    <form action='https://secure-test.worldpay.com/wcc/purchase' method=post>
    <input type='hidden' name='instId' value='1234567'>
    <input type='hidden' name='amount' value='10.99'/>
    <input type='hidden' name='cartId' value='test'>
    <input type='hidden' name='currency' value='GBP'>
    <input type='hidden' name='testMode' value='100'>
    <input type='submit' value="Submit Form">
    </form>

    My page functions and I successfully checkout at the WorldPay test page. What I need to do now is substitute the '10.99' above with some kind of 'get value' expression. I have a field called 'store_cart->order_tot' in a grid on the same page as the above HTML, which contains the value I want to replace the 10.99 with. I have tried writing my own java expressions - but of course, I failed...

    I would be grateful for any help please.

    Larry,
    I recently did something like this:
    <input type="hidden" name="amount" value= "<%a5 ?session.amount %>">
    This passed the session.amount in along with the rest of the amounts.
    Your should be able to do something similar.
    Hope this helps.

      Thanks for the input Jay. It certainly gets me part-way there. I had a few tries and the nearest error I got was with the following:

      <input type='hidden' name='amount' value="<%a5 ?store_cart->order_tot %>">

      This produces the error in the image below, which I think means I am close... I am currently trawling the documentation for the correct syntax. I'm thinking that either I have not defined my field correctly or maybe that I have to include an instruction regarding focus?

        Your single and double quote marks look incorrect. You probably need to be consistent with them.
        Also, you can try emitting
        %a5 ?store_cart->order_tot %
        somewhere on your page to make sure it appears correctly.

          Thanks Jay.

          You are quite correct - I was mixing my quote marks. And your idea to display the field on my page as an interim step is of course most excellent. At least I can easily test my syntax this way.

          Sadly, my first attempts have all failed - I still get the "field not found" message. My Alpha ability is limited, but I am thinking that the order_tot field is not 'visible' because it appears within a component on the page. I am not sure how to display on the page itself as opposed to just within the grid. But I may be barking totally up the wrong tree...

            Re: Help with Javascript

            Larry,
            Two things. You need to set the amount to a session variable. This can probably be done on the "OnGridRender" event.
            Second, if you are not using an a5w_info.a5w page in your apps, you need to. The a5w_info.a5w page has only one line of Xbasic code on it:

            <%A5 ?a5w_inf()%>

            Make sure the security is set how you want it (no security, only admin, etc) and then view it in your browser. It will show you your session variables, and a ton of other useful information.
            You will probably never create an app without one after you see it.

              I'm really grateful for your help, and I'm inching ever closer! I have now created a session variable:

              <%a5 session.cart_tot = "21.50"
              ?session.cart_tot %>

              And changed my WorldPay entry to:

              <input type='hidden' name='amount' value='<%a5 ?session.cart_tot %>'>

                  I just want to say thanks a million to Jay! We finally got there with:

                  <%a5session.cart_tot = tablesum("[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\store_cart","cart_var='"+session.cart_no+"'","order_tot") %>

                  I obviously could not have done it on my own
