Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Alpha Launch quit working ...... Help finding what I broke

    Sorry for long post ......

I've had an Alpha Launch app working for about a month.
I am constantly changing the app, adding new panels, etc.
All was working great with uploading and installing new versions to my phone.

As of yesterday, my phone stopping downloading new versions of the app. Tried numerous times.
Now when I try to install a new version of the app on my phone, I get the following error message:
"Unable to Download App Info From Server"
"There was a connection error of some sort"

Even completely deleted app from phone and Zebra server.
Uploaded fresh copy to Zebra Server, scanned to get my Alpha Launch server, then tried to download app to phone and still the same result.

I have also tried restoring the component to a date that I KNOW the app did upload and install to my phone.
Uploaded to Alpha Launch and still same results and error message.

I have checked the Alpha Launch folder on my Zebra Server and the folders/files are being uploaded.

    CSS Folder
    MyComponent Folder
    a5_application.a5i
    availableAppInfo.txt
    Guid.securitySettings

    I am using build 4770 5018

I have not made any changes to my publishing profile.

Also deleted Alpha Launch from phone and reinstalled, no luck.

Any ideas on what I have broken or what the fix might be?

    Thanks
    Tony

Tried to do some more troubleshooting: went to settings for the app I'm trying to load, clicked on Show log but there are so many entries going back 3 days of trial and error that I can't see current error row, as often happens the IPad doesn't want to scroll down the list so it is no help. would be nice if there was a delete button to remove old entries, or just a way to solve the scrolling problem (I have experienced it in many things I have created in the view box, but that's a problem for another day I guess) Just hope someone sees this that can help getting it to load, this thread was started in 2019 and no solution posted yet.

I know anticipation sucks, but there will be an Alpha Launch demo during next Wednesday's (May 6, 2021) weekly webinar.

Figured out the problem (of my own making) with Sarah's help, she figured out I had used a shortened server URL, sgrsim.com instead of http://sgrsim.com
It was confusing because the shortened version worked to create the server file and alpha launch sub folder, even passed the check for files published correctly
But did not work when trying to register in Alpha Launch on the iPad
Which that fixed it works and I can run the app from Alpha Launch
There seem to be a few things in the app that don't work when run from Alpha Launch so I'll have to troubleshoot them, but at least I know how to do that
