Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Rendering issues on Android devices

Almost every one of my a5w pages requires a page refresh once the page has originally rendered in order for it to display properly within an android browser(Chrome and native browser). On IOS devices I don't have any issues. Has anyone else had to optimize specifically for android browsers? Any tips?

    bump

No one else is running into this problem? Sometimes part of the panel falls completely off the page and I have to refresh to get it back. This doesn't happen with IOS devices.

Sometimes it renders fine on the android device, sometimes it doesn't. It is intermittent. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I have the same problem with rendering of my android devices. When i run IOS no issues at all.

I wonder if alpha will have a simulator for android or the ability to render bigger screen sizes.

The Control Gallery (http://news.alphasoftware.com/AlphaA...ontrolGallery/) is virtually unusable on an Samsung 10" Galaxy Tab in the default chrome browser.
For instance the carousel takes about 5 seconds to move from one panel to the next, when scrolling the list it crawls up the screen and the html breaks up ...

My mobile app has worked very well on the 3 Android devices we have tested using the native browser. I don't know the model numbers. My app only has one a5w page (index.a5w) which opens a parent UX component. The parent UX component opens 7 additional child components.

I am having this problem even still. The android device will not display properly without a refresh. Panel navigators set to programmatic still allow you to scroll but then won't scroll back. It's a royal mess. Have you in the last 9 months sorted through this? I'm fighting it at this very moment. Apple products work fine. This is even the case using MobBlue.

                Hi John,

Can you post a simple test case demonstrating your issue? I am developing both web based and native PhoneGap apps for Android and iOS. I have not seen the issue you are describing. I am having other Android issues and quirks which I am working with Alpha to resolve, but not the one you are describing.

                Thanks

Hi Dave. I'm using the newer Nexus 7 with Chrome. I've gotton it working a bit smoother since my last post. I found taking out the menu seems to help. Check out my test server here where the app is running. http://testalpha.no-ip.org:8001/dsi/potentials.a5w

Let me know if your devices work ok. I can post the component if necessary.

                    John,

I'm using an HTC One Mini. I tested it on the HTC One Mini's stock browser, iOS Safari and Windows 7 Chrome. Your web page looked the same on all three browsers. Nothing happens by the way when I select a row in the list. I then tested it on the Android again but using Chrome instead of the stock browser. This time, it did not render the reveal icons or the right border of the list in portrait orientation. The list appeared chopped off as it extended off the right side of the screen. When I changed my orientation to landscape, I could see the reveal icons and the right border. When I switched back to portrait, I could then see the reveal icons and the right border of the list. It looked the same as the other browsers after redrawing the page.

Re: Rendering issues on Android devices

Thank you for checking it. That is the same issue I'm having. My nexus does not have the "stock" browser only Chrome. I've installed Firefox but that is even worse. For instance the footer with the submit button is not even shown on the record entry card. I am in day one of the design of this App and am having so much trouble that I stopped adding features so I know that the row select in the list doesn't do anything yet. Anyway Hopefully this issue will get some attention from Selwin or someone up there. I simply can't count on this for real world work. Thanks again for looking at it.
