Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Wait Image

    Does anyone know where I can get a "wait" image for Alpha Anywhere that is a circle of dots like alpha's has in their UX component properties like this
    CSS/A5System/images/wait.gif and can be sized.

    Have a look here... very cool choices. Not sizeable from this site but there are a lot of different sizes available. Custom colours... great stuff.

      Wow those "wait" images are just what I'm looking for. Do you know where I need to copy the image in order to use it from the properties

      "Wait message on Ajax Callback" or any other place in my program?

        Re: Wait Image

        If you put the gif into the folder where your components are, and then publish it once you're back into Alpha, then it should end up in your published A5Webroot folder. Or you can just copy it to the A5Webroot/CSS/A5System/Images folder. In the UX Properties, for example, if you just put the name of the gif... no path, then it should get picked up from the A5Webroot folder. Or, leave the default path in place - which should be A5Webroot/CSS/A5System/Images and change the name to your gif.

        Under Wait message on Ajax Callback, if CSS3 Animation is checked, then uncheck it and you'll see the default path.

                      Re: Wait Image

                      I am now able to add the wait images that way I want except for the dark square image that I am getting around the image when I add it to the Alpha program. I've made several images but no matter how I make them I get a dark square image behind the image. Here's what it looks like.

                      Wait Message.png

                      Also here is the properties area of my UX components where I am setting my wait messages and images.

                        Just a shoot in the dark - did you save it as gif of png? Try clicking "transparent background" when generating the image and save it as GIF

                          Re: Wait Image

                          I think I have this right. This style is part of the wait message stuff and... since it follows all the rules (of course) then you can kinda get at it. If you debug some javascript while an ajax callback is being made then the wait message will stick around and then we can see what it's style is. I'm not sure about this, but I think this is injected when it's needed so overriding the style in your local css doesn't seem to work... at first. Your altered style goes in and then Alpha comes along and whacks it. But... that's ok. !important to the rescue.

                          In your UX Local CSS Definitions you can do this...

                          Code:
                          ._a5WaitMessageCSS {
                          background:transparent !important;
                          border-radius: 5px;
                          color: white;
                          padding: 30px;
                          text-shadow: none;
                          }
                          This is the exact css definition that Alpha inserts... but with the background changed to transparent... and !important added. !important says... well... this is important... I get to override everybody else.
                          Now when an ajax callback is made there is no background... just the spinning gif.

                          The original background was set at...

                          Code:
                          background: rgba(0,0,0,.2);
                          I don't know what long term effects this may have. CSS is a magical place where mysterious things happen... good and evil. I almost understand it... but not really.

                            I've been trying for WEEKS to find and answer to this wait image issue and finally you've given me something to try. OK I will go through this later today after I get home and I'll let you know what happens.

                            I can't thank you enough for taking the time to look into this question.

                              I'm working on a timed wait message so I can keep it on the screen long enough to check the class.
