Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Grid height causes error screen when scrolled.

If I increase the number of records in a grid such that the grid is "taller" than the display screen, a vertical scroll is generated on the right side of the display. If I scroll down to view the rest of the grid, the page a5 generates an "unspecified error" screen.

If I decrease the number of records so the grid is "shorter" than the display screen, no errors are generated.

The problem shows in Working and/or Live Preview.

Has anyone run into this problem?

Using Build 1902 I'm not seeing this.

I built a grid from a table containing 62 records. The default # of records per page is 10. The grid displays with 10 records. I then changed the "Records per page" on the displayed grid to 50, got a scrollbar, and scrolled to the bottom without error... LivePreview, Working Preview and Browser. I changed the "Records per page" a number of times to different numbers and no errors on scroll.

If you put together a 2nd grid... just a few columns but lots of records... same problem?

Any custom code running in your grid?

      Dave,

I'm on build 1856...don't know if there's a difference between that and 1902, but what you are describing is more or less what I've been working on/same "techniques," and I'm showing that problem.

I don't know if there's something else on my computer/setup that's causing it or something in my data?

I'll create a new SQL file and see if I can duplicate it using cold information.

May very well depend on your IE version. What platform are you using to run the developer ? Do you get the same problem if you do a live preview in a browser rather than within Alpha's IDE ?

          Frank,

Good questions...ran the sample specifically selecting IE, Firefox and Chrome browsers...NO problems in any of them.
The problem only occurs when I select Live Preview and then scroll without selecting a specific browser or when I look at it in Working Preview.

I am running a5v12 1856-4237, Windows 8.1 (with all available updates), 64bit setup.

Might have it narrowed down to an issue in Alpha's IDE.

You may want to try to update to the latest pre-release & see how that goes. If It fails then may you can create a bug report: create a sample project with just a simple dbf based grid (include the dbf) , zip up the whole thing & tell that they have tot test in W8.1 / IE11. A fix will be on the way!
