Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Error: You have not loaded primary keys. Therefore you cannot delete this record

I'm calling a dialog from a list. I can edit and add but I can't delete because I get this error message.

The data is bound and I have loaded the primary keys in the OnDialogInitialize event. I did this in both the list component and dialog component's OnDialogInitialize event and I still get the same error.

ExecuteServerSideAction("Get Primary Keys for Parent Table::Load_Primary_keys_for_Parent_Table")

I am calling the dialog from the list by using an Edit button. If I run the dialog without using the list or Edit button, I can delete the record without any error.

It is only when I use the Edit button in my list and then try to delete the record that I get this error.

    Thanks

No I haven't. I haven't been able to figure it out but I haven't had a chance to work on it more in quite awhile.

Also, I was going to see if the latest BETA version had the same issue next but just haven't had time to work on it yet.

I am using beta version. The problem exists on these versions too.
I discovered that is better to use the Action Javascript DELETE - a new action available - I am not sure if it is available on the last official build.

The other way to solve the problem is NOT TO USE THE option "Populate UX Component with Data from a Table" that appears on the Action Javascript genie that creates the action that is called from the grid or list.

Pay attention to the help message of this item: it says that if you enable this option, everything you write on onDialogInitialize will be ignored. So it does not matter if you load primary keys on this event.
The solution is to unmark this option, and on the dialog, on the onDialogInitialize event, you place two server-side events:

ExecuteServerSideAction("Get Primary Keys for Parent Table::Load_Primary_keys_for_Parent_Table")

        ExecuteServerSideAction("Populate Dialog from Tables::Populate_a_Dialog_with_data_from_one_or_more_tables")

The primary key is needed on the second server side action. I took it from an argument that I previously defined.

Therefore, it is only possible to delete a record if you have these two server side actions on the dialog, and do not use the option to populate the ux on the javascript action that calls the UX from the grid.

        It worked for me.
