IF statement in AfterDialogValidate

Hi

In a UX component I have the record saving and submitting as expected - all done using the server-side actions, etc (Save Submitted Data to Tables)

What I would like to do is send an email depending on the result of one of the fields. I had thought this would be a simple if statement, but I can't get it to work.

I have a field called email (checkbox) on the form called email and if the value is 1, then send an email and submit the form, otherwise just submit the form without sending the email.

Should it not be something like:

if e.datasubmitted.email=1 then
ExecuteServerSideAction("Send E-mail Message::Send_an_e_mail_message")
ExecuteServerSideAction("Save Data::Save_Submitted_Data_to_Table_s_")
else
ExecuteServerSideAction("Save Data::Save_Submitted_Data_to_Table_s_")
end if


Am I going about this the right way?

e.dataSubmitted.email[1]="yes"
if your choices for email are yes and no
if radio button which will allow only one value as opposed to checkbox
e.dataSubmitted.email = "yes" if your choices are yes and no
you can always return 1 or 0 in either checkbox or radio button if it suits you then
your statement will be correct as stated in your post for a radio button.

Thanks - that's working now.

I'm now trying to figure out how to send an image in the email...

I have the image held in the MySQL database table as a longblob field.

I've tried inserting the field just like other field types, but nothing is sent - just a blank message.

I also have a text field which holds the image path so I suppose I could have a link in the email to the image location. It would be good if I could include the image directly in the email body itself though...

Jonathan,

If you put 'debug(1)' (without the quotes) into your xbasic code and run Live/Working preview your code will break into the debugger at that point and let you examine variables, fields, etc. That way you can tell if something like email is an Array.

I've taken the file name and embedded it into the html of the email and this works fine.

My problem now is that it doesn't seem to save the image first time round, whereas if I go back into the record and re-submit it, the image comes through ok on the email.

It looks as if the image hasn't been fully uploaded before the email is sent (all the other information somes through ok on the email)

Is there any way I can introduce a delay between save/submit and sending the email?
