Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Button images/ icon location problem

    Dear all,
I am using AAV12 build 2018-4267 trying to build iPhone app. When i create an image only button and tries to bring an image from the project location and try to see it on on working preview and live preview all my images are broken links. I tried to create a different folder for the images only in the project folder and tried it from there too, but no luck. But when i link an image from "built in images" it works and also the "localhost" published files are also works when i see it on the browser.

    Any idea fixing this problem?

    See the attached images

    Thanks,
    Eddie

One hint ;- when i copy and paste the image folder into A5webroot/LivePreview folder, the Live Preview works.
It looks like files are not copied to the right location..... ??? , no solution yet

Re: Button images/ icon location problem

      Eddie,

When you do a live preview of a component then you "publish" the component and only the component to a subfolder called "livepreview" in the webroot of the Alpha server that is incorporated in the developer copy. So the folder with your images or even images in the default.webproject folder are not published. This is expected behavior.

When you do a true publish of your project then everything gets published to the local webroot.

In working preview things should work but again publishing your project is the way to go

I made a true publish and see a working view on browser, if that is what true publish you meant. but it doesn't work on live preview or working preview.
I am using the trial version though, do you think that may be the problem?

Re: Button images/ icon location problem

A true publish is when you select "Publish" in the webprojects panel. You then publish to the localhost (your development machine) or a remote server.

In Live preview it is not supposed to work unless you copy the images or the images folder in the LivePreview folder.
In working preview it should work however but you may have an IE issue there (because working preview uses IE internally because it is woven into the OS) Try clearing your IE cache & make sure you are at least using IE10

Most important is of course that a normal publish works correctly. I use a democopy of the Application server & I publish optimized (important); it is blazing fast & you can set it to only published the things you updated

It is all a matter of getting in to the Alpha IDE , once you master that you'll do magic

Frank, thanks for the info about IE. my server had IE9 also I had v11 WAS installed on my server. I removed that and upgraded my IE to IE11 and uninstalled /reinstall my v12, that fixed the LivePreview problem. But i am still having a problem with WorkingPrevew.

Sorry no idea besides clearing IE cache (because Alpha uses IE for it's working preview)
