OK so I'm really getting my teeth into Alpha Anywhere, been a few weeks now and really enjoying it :)
I watched all the V12 videos
I watched all the V11 videos
However I'm just scratching my head wondering how to get a button control in the grid,
so that it appears in the
Design window, under
Grid >> Fields >> Selected (column)
I kept seeing Selwyns videos with a button there and couldn't figure out how he put one in there!
So I finally found old V10 video where it is shown!
http://screencast.com/t/ZuiHU8HuiRO
which I found from this page
http://news.alphasoftware.com/v10preview/videos.htm
So for all you newbies out there who might have missed it (I sure did... DOH!)
The trick is the "Insert" hyper link at the very bottom of the Available Fields list (in Design mode, Grid >> Fields view)
as per image attached.InsertButtonIntoGrid.png
(as an aside.... my workaround to date, for inserting button into a grid had been,
Grid >> Properties >> Action Buttons, define an Action Button
then insert the defined Action Button into a FreeForm Edit Region (e.g. to the Right of the Grid)
and in a Child Grid!
but not very quick and easy, and not always giving the smooth result I wanted)
And for Alpha IDE Devs
just a friendly UI suggestion,
perhaps move that little blue "Insert" hyperlink to the top of the Available Fields list...
I would have seen it then, and would have saved me a lot of convoluted child-grids with Action Buttons in Freeform Edit Regions! ;)
Re-working my 1st app now... inserting grid buttons the EASY way
