Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    [HELP] Upload File Problem

    Hi guys,

Currently I have a grid component which have a button with upload file function. The uploaded file will be stored in folder [PathAlias.ADB_Path]\UploadFile. A few days ago, it still runs fine, but recently it shows error. We aren't do any changes to the component.

Here's the error message when uploading a file.

    A5-error upload.png

Does anyone know what caused this?

    Any help will be appreciate.

    Thanks in advanced..
    Jeff

    Re: [HELP] Upload File Problem

    I have tried to :
    1. enable/disable security framework
    2. Using absolute folder path
    3. Using [PathAlias.ADB_Path] path

    None of above is successful.

Does anyone experienced this issue before?

    uploaderror.png

There a note that when file are uploaded to the server, they stored initially in a temporary file in Session folder. This temporary file is then copied to a permanent file in the Upload folder.
From the error log below, I think the error caused by this temporary file is not found. But, this upload function is built-in alpha function, how can we fix this?

I have the same issue using the latest release. It appears to only happen when using the file upload with a grid component.

The resolution that I have found is to use a UX to handle the file upload. It is easy to do and functions the same.

An ugly alternative is to fill in the record first, save it without the file upload, edit the record and upload the file.

            Thanks a lot Luther..
            I'll check on it.

I'm also trying creating a new project for test, but still got the same error. So this is an application server issue I guest, and it's happen in the the latest release. Hopefully Alpha will fix this soon.

              Re: [HELP] Upload File Problem

Finally after few days struggling with this issue, this issue can be solved. Fortunately, we doesn't need to rebuild the component using UX component. Hopefully this information can be useful.

              Here's what we're doing:
In the UploadFile function previously we're using setting field to Grid field, and now we changed it to Table field. And with this changes, we also need to exclude the field from grid component. With this setting the error "500 - server returned an error" not shown anymore.

Then, still in UploadFile function, in Allow Cancel setting, if this setting is checked, the upload process will stuck. Not sure what caused this. So we unchecked it. And upload function runs well.

Thanks you so much for everyone helps.

                Re: [HELP] Upload File Problem

I worked on a similar issue (same error as in first post) and we final determined it was because we used a session var as part of the grid filter, as in myfield = :myarg, where myarg was a session variable. I will have to go back and determine if the problem was because we used a session variable in the filter, or simple because we used an argument. Our resolution was to NOT filter directly in the grid, but to apply the filter at the TabbedUI level.

I had the same problem. But when I replaced the argument in the filter with session.[variablename], the file upload worked.

hi, i could really do with some help, i updated to build 2446-4365 - dev and server both the same. i waited for a log time before updating to ensure bugs are fixed.

originally i was having an issue with file size being exceeded, we didn't make any changes to the component. i changed the progress bar to standard and this seemed to solve the issue, then i was getting an error the same as this post 'upload status 500 - server returned an error'

i turned off the progress bar and this now returns the error in the pic. i have restarted the server but no luck.

Document upload is critical for us, urgent help needed please Alpha - all was working just fine until i stupidly updated my version which i only did because my subscription was coming to an end.

I had exactly the same issue and error [Until 5 minutes ago] Thanks Plosie.
                      Instead Of Arguments
Author = :WhatUser OR :AdminUser = "PGreef" OR :Reviewer = "NVisagie" OR :Developer = "CCLaubscher"

                      Replace with below.
                      Author = session.[MyUser] OR session.[MyUser] = "PGreef" OR session.[MyUser] = "NVisagie" OR session.[MyUser] = "CCLaubscher"

                        Hi All

I am having the same problem but am still unable to get it working using the above method (unless I am misunderstanding it)

If I take out my filter with the variable in it the file uploads correctly, however I need that filter.

Currently my filter is: userid = :VUserid

:Vuserid is obtained form the the session variable "session.CurrentUserName"

My component is based on Sql Select Statement

Any help regarding this would be appreciated.

                        Thank you
