Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    email_send problem

I can send emails from the working preview but not from my site hosted by Zebrahost. Is there something I need to do to get the email profile on the zebrahost server? Any ideas would be appreciated.

did you set up the email settings in the project properties? ( not just in view setting, email.)

I did and I also created a profile under the settings menu. It seems like the info didn't get to the server even though I republished the entire project.

since I am the only user, my email settings the account holders name and from address are the same.
I see you have your name and your client's name.
does that pose a problem? I do not know yet, I can test it for you.
in the meantime how are you sending the email?
ps: if you need to send it on your client address you might want to consider email_send_noprofile()
edit: two different addresses did not cause a problem in initial testing, all emails sent with the account holders name (you might want to look into it)

What I did was to send the emails from my own working preview which worked fine. I now have 2 weeks before the next batch gets sent out. My client was happy that the emails went out but neither of us want this solution to be permanent.

On a different server a year ago I did a similar program for a different client and it think I did something with the application server to make it work but I an't remember if or what I did.

          Thanks.

I was wondering if your problem got solved. I am having similar issue but for me I can send the email after publishing my app to the my LAN Server but when I install the app to my iPad it does nothing.

            Thanks.

I called the boys at Zebrahost and they said it was probably being blocked by Google as part of their fraud protection. At his point I still can't send from the zebrahost server and I have no indication that Google is responsible.

I'm still stuck and any advice you can give me will be appreciated.

Gandhi, did you anything to the server to make it work? Is there anything special you need to do to publish the profile?

Other than these questions I'm lost.

                    Re: email_send problem

Try setting the email profile on the WAS through the EMail Setting and not inside the Project Setting of your IDE.

                    Email Setting.png

After applying the settings, hit the TEST button and see what the error is. The error will help to identify the bugs at times

                        Hey Lee,

Did you do apply the setting in the Development Server or the Application Server?

Well, you need to do apply the setting on the App Server on your Zebrahost box.

When you remote into the Zebrahost box, look in the bottom right in the Notification Box where you will find the Application Server icon. Right click on it and select Email Setting. Apply the settings over there and make sure that you keep the same name as you used in the project codes.

                        That's it.

Do a regular publishing and it should work.

nothing special. I set up the email profile on the server, as was suggested you should set it up at zebrahost.
secondly, I remember seeing that you have the profile on your email address and it is serving your client. if still the same, take into consideration to use email_send_noprofile. so all your clients email will not be sent on your name or address.

                            Thanks guys,

For days I looked everywhere for the email profile on the server except for the place it was. Problem solved.

Oh that's Great Lee, that it is working for you!

Have any of you guys tried to install app on the mobile device and have been able to send the email from the app itself?

I can send email from my working preview as well as when I publish it to my LAN server.

                              Thanks,
