Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Publish to FTP server but cannot submit to database!?

I can do this locally when publishing to the Local Webroot, by putting the correct URL for all ajaxcallbacks to enable "submitting" data to the database. How do i do this when I'm outside? To be more detailed I can place my laptop's IP Address in the URL for all ajaxcallback like this "http://ipaddress/foldername". What URL should i be putting when i publish to an FTP server? and able to do this when not connecting to the local WiFi?

can you show an example of your callback code. Not quite sure what you are trying to accomplish. Fundamentally there would be NO difference between your code for local, and your code for remote or "outside".

      look for connection string alias,
unless locally you are using localhost and in the server also localhost.
if not then you need to address that in the connection string alias.

Example of the local callback URL would be http://192.xx.xx.xx/myApp. This allows me to enable to feature of the server-side event "Submit". How do i achieve the same feature when connected to an external WiFi?. I already publish my project to an FTP server.

Ultimately I just want to be able to submit/retrieve data to/from a database while connecting to an external WiFi through my installed application on my device.

Please and thank you so much for helping.

I don't think that is needed, all your files will be in the webroot you should be able to do that with
            Folder name/ file name
If you post entire code I am sure someone will correct it.
You can remove sensitive data, of course you know that.

Re: Publish to FTP server but cannot submit to database!?

I don't think i have any codes in client-side. I only have the URL for all ajaxCallbacks. I am new so i don't quite understand what are ajaxCallbacks. So right now when publishing locally to the local webRoot it works when I apply the url : https://192.xxx.x.xxx/CleanFolder in the URL for all ajaxCallBacks. When I'm connected to the local WiFi I can access the database and can even submit to the database. But when i Switch to LTE it does not work.

Can you show us some of your code or a video on what you are trying to do.

                  submit.pngDatabase.pngList.png

So basically what I am trying to do is bind UX Controls to a database table. and of course use the server-side submit action. The list control will then refresh and get data from the database table. This works fine on "Working Preview". But i want to do this while connecting to LTE on my device.

I think in the URL he just needed to replace the local ip address (http://192.168.1.xx/myApp) with his public/WAN ip address (http://72.200.100.xxx/myApp)
